yeah it was very disappointing. she has been going on anti-trans rants in interviews, public appearances and social media posts for about 5-6 years now.

Ngozi Adichie did not answer directly, but remarking on the criticism of her generally, she said, "Now this whole trans thing, I did not know I was walking into anything. I thought I had said something self-evident. So I think I just experienced a sadness. I felt, 'I'm on your side. We're a tribe. Why am I a controversial figure?'"

 

"So somebody who looks like my brother -- he says, 'I'm a woman,' and walks into the women's bathroom, and a woman goes, 'You're not supposed to be here,' and she's transphobic?" she continued.

 

The brother in question is "tall, bearded and handsome," Williams wrote, adding, "I suggest that he would look different if he were living as a woman." Ngozi Adichie responded, "But that's the thing. You can look however you want now and say you're a woman."

 

Williams noted that trans people don't want to be judged or discriminated against based on their appearance and stage of transition, and she asked if Ngozi Adichie's brother were transitioning, wouldn't she think that "treating him with dignity and respect was more important than where he went to the toilet?"

 

"Why can't they be equal parts of the conversation?" Ngozi Adichie replied. When Williams suggested that dignity should take precedence, Ngozi Adichie said that amounted to ignoring women's views.

7/11 is the worst song in her discography and i'm surprised thats not more of a popular opinion.

 

its just nonsensical all around...lyrically, vocally...a waste of studio space. i wish it were deleted off the planet.

Pretty Hurts was never good tbh. Like I appreciate the message but it has such low replay value.

I'm curious, what's that? Mine? Partition? I don't think of the former and the latter isn't among my faves (although I love Yoncé) 

 

DrIL has aged a little bit, true, but I think it's a fun song. Pretty Hurts and XO were dated upon release. Flawless aged like milk, while the remix is trash (I said what I said). 

 

7/11 was never good. At least it works perfectly as an intro though.

Some of them downvote everything I post even when it’s not related to their fave. Literally the most random posts. There are like 8 of them that I can name because they are always in my notifications. One day, I logged back in to 40+ notifications all from them going through my posts. Idk what they think disliking my posts is going to do. If anything seeing them so angry and pressed bring me a lot of joy

I think this album is one of the least clockable in terms of how timeless the songs sound. So I still rate every song highly though it was released in 2013.

 

Personally,I think DRUNK IN LOVE aged the worst….even though I still love the song…it is a little dated in terms of production, sound, lyrics and flow.
 

Second in line would be Pretty Hurts 

flawless aged a lot for me tbh, as aforementioned in the thread, the person in the sample being a TERF in particular rubbed me off from it every since. plus i woke up like this was everywhere as a saying after the release so it kinda got beat into the ground from there  drunk is actually the one i return to the most tbh

I have this theory that 7/11 is a JayZ diss track. She wrote it while they were separated. It’s about moving on, being happy and thriving with her besties. When she looks at the camera and sings “im fresher than you, hoe” she talking directly to JayZ
