I feel like they can sing “im black” it’s not like they are saying the n word. It’s just part of the song, like you said we don’t have to identify with every aspect of a song

When I saw the “miss 3rd ward” sash in the Lift Off backdrop coupled with the motherboard interlude and the mind control interlude something clicked in me. Renaissance was always supposed to be a declaration of complete detachement from her being an active public figure. Break My Soul being the lead single was absolutely intentional with especially the meaning of the song. This whole era was her telling us that she’s in a whole different state of mind and that she wont kill herself anymore to push or promote her art actively by doing promo or other things. The meaning behind the “miss 3rd ward” scene was about what her aspiration in life was and her answer was happiness. She quite literally is having a rebirth in the motherboard interlude where her old self dies and she gets reborn as this new version of herself. The mind control interlude with the captcha proving if you are a robot all has to do with her trying to say that she is a human being and that she’s never gonna push herself like before again and will be taking a step back, it’s not a coincidence that Ghost is playing during the interlude aswell. This whole robot theme of the tour clearly is a double entendre. It’s obviously robotic cause of this being an electronic album but also cause of the deeper underlying meaning behind the entire dehumanizing concept of being a popstar. The pandemic and motherhood has further made her choose a life of normalcy and fluidity compared to a hectic schedule. This is why she’s never touring outside of the US and EU again and also why they’ll stay summer tours just like all her last onces. She simply is distancing herself more and more from the limelight and this entire era is her breaking us into her new salvation….

i dont think we can “cancel” anyone for singing along to these lyrics. It’s not the n word and we all know the context of these words so it’s all coming from a good place.

But this is an interesting discussion, if more people are willing to chime in, Im open to be more educated about it.

as a non-Black poc, I never feel comfortable singing along to certain parts of her songs. I am all in to cheer and support the sentiment but I don't want to be shouting "I just might be a Black Bill Gates in the making" over people like that, especially since her crowds have plenty of Black folks who can and will sing along and feel empowered by the message in a way that does not apply to me. some of her lines and messages aren't for me, and that's okay. in a way, white / non-Black people participating almost dilutes the impact of those lines, in my opinion. but obviously I am not and do not claim to be the authority on this.

 I'm so freaking excited. Strangely I think one of the things I'm most excited about is to hear her sing Dangerously in Love in person again for the first time since 2005. It's always been one of my favorite songs.

Remember when people swore up and down that she needed to cut the entire Opulence segment... yet now it's one of the most liked segments of the show among casuals and stans alike
