Starboy got 175m streams in 2016...

It's hard to figure out if he actually really underperformed or if corona is having THAT big of an effect.

Because of corona streaming decreased in the past week, if you look at the rest of the songs of the top 50 of streaming posted by HDD

Radio hits will increase a lot in the next weeks.

This is an underperformance, and I'm sure corona had an effect.

Dua's numbers will also be telling whether this is actually a thing, but coming off of Starboy, with a #1 and a MASSIVE WW single, this should have been 300M+ easily imo.

Corona isn’t just affecting 10% - 10% is across the board but newer and more popular tracks are more affected than recurrent streams

im using Harry here as an example because I keep track of his daily streams. For self titled (2017) his streams decreased about 3.5/4% but for Fine Line, they decreased 15/16%

And both of those were definitely Corona related because it happened within 24/48 hours (we, there was a first dip two weeks ago and then a second one, bigger, last week)

My guess is that Abel is doing 15-20% less of what he’d be doing without corona. I expect it to affect Dua as well.

Another example of Corona's effect is Uzi Vert songs. The songs he released during the first week of his album release got huge streams with thee songs debuting in the top 10 (that was a week before quarantine). But then he released other new songs from his album a week later and they did worse (the highest peaking song was Myron at #13)

Abel will have 2 songs in the top 10 (future #1 smash Blinding Lights and Heartless because still has big airplay)

And that doesn't mean Abel did bad on streaming, because most of his songs are in the top 10 of streaming (he has 9 songs in the top 10, The Box is the only non-Weeknd song in the top 10  :skull: ). Streams just decreased for everyone.

15-20% would be 40M extra streams...placing the count at 250M. That's still lower than I anticipated

But I guess the merch bundle could've had an effect on the streams as well. People actually having the album and not streaming, idk

Nonetheless, he's doing amazing first week

Its pretty solid but its obviously underperforming. Even if we exclude the streams dip in the last 2 weeks, it would still be disappointing even tho it has a song challenging for #1 this week. Still good numbers all in all.

The Box is #1 on YouTube with a massive lead

I'm not sure that's enough of a difference of streams for The Weeknd to secure #1. Guess it depends on digital sales and radio points.

@Green @simmnfierzig

Blinding Lights will comfortably be #1

Remember that Youtube got weighted down a few months ago and even if not his lead on sales and airplay and on-demand streaming is absolutely enough
