OT: Hopefully it will rebound once they fix that iTunes glitch and promo starts.  It's one of my fav songs of 2019 period and it doesn't deserve this...kM1GECw.gif

This is sad. Can't she just buy out her contract and retire? :emofish:

But I thought that just because it's over doesn't mean it's really over? What happened?

Gaga never truly flopped though. ARTPOP did decent numbers.

And the singles did well (maybe underperformed for her standards)

Applause #4

Dope #8

DWUW #13

Weird comparison.

------

Katy needs to take a long break, then come back with a new sound. These droplets should be forgotten.

And don't forget G.U.Y, which outpeaked Small Talk and now HIH.

The playlisting still hasn't been in effect for a full week. Pretty sure it'll chart much higher next week.

Yea, maybe #109. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

At this point, whoever is investing in her music career is straight up losing money. I'm not even trolling.

She's Capitol's white elephant.

omg, I've heard she will debut Top90 and ready to make a gif of her bubbling up the water surface (#100) from the MV pool's scene, but now she's not even in the top100 :noparty:.

Still like it the most out of the 4 recent singles.

Contracts don't force you to make music. She is releasing because she wants to.

Contracts only enforce if you release music it has to be under the label. Forcing someone to release music would be forced labor.

Technically it would be #110 :skull:

You are incorrect. There are songs that didn’t go recurrent that fell below #100 that could’ve appeared between #101-110. The Bubbling Under chart is only new songs. So theoretically it could actually be #113 or something, lol.  But technically it’s not a single anyways cuz there was no adds date.

Nope, it Doesn’t work like that.

we have the 1-100 songs

but we also have the songs reached 20 weeks and are below #100 but could be between 101 and 110

then we have have the songs that reached the Hot 100 and are not allow the chart in The Bubbling Under but doesn’t have enough points to be make the Hot 100 they could be below the Hot 100 but above the Katy song

we also have the songs that reached 52 weeks and would be below Top 50 but are not allow to chart in The Bubbling Under or the Hot 100

so HIH is #10 on the Bubbling Under pwuoch means The Hot 100 songs are above it

the 9 song son the Bubbling under are above

there could be 5 or 10 or 15 or 20 songs that went recurrent already but are not allowed to chart

so the doesnt is not #110

thhere could be 125 songs that were more popular than HIH this week

You’re misunderstanding my post. Clearly she’s releasing music to fulfill her contractual obligations whether she wants to release it or not. If I were her, I’d just go independent since it would alleviate a lot of pressure. It may not be forced labor, but it’s definitely the main incentive, which is why she’s been doing events with Capitol for most of these releases; in addition to the president of Capitol revealing that they have a “plan” after Witness flopped.

If she did not want to release it, she would not release it. She's not contractually obligated to release.

Contracts only enforce the music has to be released under the label, and the label has to approve music you release. If she wanted to retire and never release again she could. Every artist signed to a label has planning behind any of their releases. And she wrote this single + said she wanted to release it so it is not like she is being 'forced' to put out this either.

You’re the only person creating this narrative that she’s “forced” to release music. :rip:

I never once said that? Also, how could she just retire whenever she wants if she’s under a contract?

If that were the case then why did artists such as Prince and Selena Gomez release vanity projects to get out of their obligations? Why is Kesha wrapped up in an intense battle with Dr. Luke to get out of hers?

Katy can say she “wants” to release all these flop singles all day, but the fact remains that she’s a signed artist and has to fulfill the duties of her label like every other major artist.

But honestly what is happening? Why is she failing to this degree? I still don’t understand it. It’s not like she’s Gwen or Avril it Fergie of a bygone era. Her peers are all still mega stars.

Retire means not make music anymore. Even under a contract you aren't FORCED to continue making music. Again, contract means that if you do want to continue making music it legally has to be done under the label.

Prince & Selena Gomez released projects to get out of contracts... because they wanted to release music under a new label. Not because they wanted to retire from music.

Kesha also did not want to retire from music. She just did not want to release it under that label (Kemosabe Records) because Dr. Luke owned it, therefore her accused sexual assaultee would benefit from her music.

Like?.. She does not have to fulfill anything... unless she wanted to leave her label and join a new one like previously discussed artists. She has not showed any interest in wanting to leave her label.
