HIH #10 Bubbling Under

You’re the only person creating this narrative that she’s “forced” to release music. :rip:

I never once said that? Also, how could she just retire whenever she wants if she’s under a contract?

If that were the case then why did artists such as Prince and Selena Gomez release vanity projects to get out of their obligations? Why is Kesha wrapped up in an intense battle with Dr. Luke to get out of hers?

Katy can say she “wants” to release all these flop singles all day, but the fact remains that she’s a signed artist and has to fulfill the duties of her label like every other major artist.

I don’t think she is told to release singles. She might have a number of albums she must release over the course of however long the contract is but she is almost certainly not being told to release these singles and is most likely actually doing it because she wants to.

Like?.. She does not have to fulfill anything... unless she wanted to leave her label and join a new one like previously discussed artists.

When you sign a label, aren’t you required to release a certain amount of music? If that were the case, all of these miserable artists who hate the fame + industry would’ve retired a long time ago. Kesha signed a 7 album deal with Luke and he’s fighting to hold her to those obligations. And no, retiring doesn’t mean stop making music. I mean retire as a major commercial artist, which would require her to get out of her contract with Capitol.

Her label probably won’t allow her to release a  full record until she proves she’s worth investing in, which clearly isn’t the case with all of these consecutive bombs. She’s probably under  a ton of pressure, and I just don’t see her having a significant commercial comeback hence why I suggested retirement as a major commercial artist.

If you're signed to a label for 7 albums, that does not mean you are forced to release 7 albums in your life. It means, you cannot leave the label until you have released 7 albums under them. That's all. If you recorded 2 albums, then decided to quit music, then they wouldn't be required to put a gun to your head.

This is common with bands/groups. They disband before a contract is up. Almost every band does this, since they last short term.

A label will then just throw together compilations/greatest hits to finish out the contracts if they see there's no intention for anymore studio albums to be produced.

Kesha's case was special because she was in court battles with her label boss.. thus her music would not get fair treatment under any release, and on top of that he is her accused abuser and he would get a portion of revenue. Katy isn't going through any of that. Nor has she hinted she doesn't want to do mainstream music anymore, or is being forced to make Pop music. What would be the point of her retiring as a major commercial artist? It's not like she is going back to Christian music anytime soon.

Well obviously, but you would owe the label money since they’ve invested into you when you signed. You can’t just sign a contract and decide to quit without fulfilling the terms and not expect consequences. :rip:

You’d either have to pay up or fight it out in court. Katy’s contract is probably expensive to get out of, but she obviously has the money being a multi-millionaire. Or, she could release GHs as you said, but who’s to say her label will allow her to do that? At the end of the day all of this is speculation since none of us really knows what’s happening behind the scenes; nor do we know the specifics of her contract.

She needs to stick with the "Never Really Over" sound. It really suits her and it's what the public wants from her!  :cm:

2. No long black hair = no hit

No Luke/Max= No hits

She should just dye her hair black, get extensions and release an AC single, maybe that would do better than now.

Katy isn't seeing this thread, but you guys are. Its normal for an artist to flop, but when it happened to Gaga, none of you were acting nice either. So why do you expect the LMs to be nice now when she is doing miles worse than the Legendary, acclaimed, award winner Lady Gaga?

The flip flopping :bibliahh:

Like stop acting holier than thou when you're the one spending your time dragging other artists the most

Her team will tell her HIH went top 10 and will leave out bubbling under part :fan:
