because the 11m figure likely has programmed-streams (from services like pandora) and user-uploaded/non-official youtube video views, which the riaa doesn’t count but billboard does on the hot 100

I hate the rivalry because both do their own thing but it sounds like she thinks bodak yellow might get diamond first (because if she’s saying the actual certification system recognizes less than 9m than she has over 1m more to go to be eligible) and she’s putting this out ahead to say I could have had mine certified if it wasn’t for riaa?

it does sound like she tried to get it certified diamond and was told by Riaa that only close to 9m are legit units but billboard counts the illegitimate ones too.
