What's total ESA for Ariana? I think she can eventually surpass them with longevity.

  • At 7,064,000 EAS, Wings is the 2nd most successful album from 2016.
  • At 7,127,000 EAS, Love Yourself: Her is the 2nd most successful album from 2017.
  • At 5,884,000 EAS, Love Yourself: Tear is the 2nd most successful album from 2018.
  • At 4,415,000 EAS, Map of the Soul: Persona is the most successful album from 2019 so far.

If you go to K-Pop boards, you will often read that BTS never had a true big hit. The truth is, they have just way too many to point out a single one.

They obviously have no signature song with both DNA and Fake Love on a virtual tie at over 435,000 EAS from streams. The former is bigger in both main Asian countries, South Korea and Japan, while the latter dominates abroad.

MIC Drop comes at 3 mostly fueled worldwide by the Desiigner remix while Blood Sweat & Tears is also very close behind.

Markets wise, they have as many as 15 songs over 100 million streams on Spotify. Let’s remember that the platform isn’t deployed in South Korea and has a minimal impact in Japan.

In South Korea, they do own some hits with a larger lead, especially the gigantic Spring Day. In Japan, their top 3 is made of DNA, Blood Sweat & Tears, and I Need U.

In China, their tracks are made available after a download-only restriction period, which is why Boy with Luv remains at 0. I Need U is their biggest track there.

The surprise in the table comes from the top album which is Wings. It’s impressively consistent numbers through an extensive track list shots the 2016 LP to the top with over 1.78 million EAS.

In terms of career sales, it’s only a matter of weeks before the 10 million barrier is reached.

omg they released so many albums in such a short period of time? :rip: poor guys can't catch a break

Impressive :clap3:

BTW I was listening to a K-Pop playlist with 100 songs and over 20 were by them :skull:

Most of them were bops though :fan:

They grand total looks unimpressive until you look at the individual album numbers and its a whole different story. Imagine having 8 albums sell at least a million in your CAREER let along in a decade like this.

Yea, they are averaging 5.5 Million album sold EACH YEAR.... In today's climate; it's CRAZY.

Between the LY trilogy & MOTS, they sold 20 MILLION ALBUMS IN THE PAST 2 YEARS

20 million? :jonny4:

it's silly to compare k pop idol sales to pop artists when k pop idol's sales mostly come from "physical" EP/Album only bought by their fandom.

only to get their fav #1 on chart or get into fan meeting events or get different photo cards/posters. it's very extreme here.

those album is just "goods" or "ticket" to them. korea idol industry got this from j-pop idol industry.

it's very weirdo situation as those idols do 100k 300k 500k 1m sales.. no idols can't even release proper album because nobody buy it.

If you look at korea album sales year end 2008.. everyone is idol.. lol

First, you sound like you're from Korea or Asia, if so; shame on you for being so dihonnest cause you know darn well BTS is not just another Idol group. BoyWLuv is slaying the charts and is probably the 3rd biggest song of the year after Taeyon & Bom. It had 11 roof top & multiple Perfect Kills and is proving to have excellent longevity with UL. Boygroup usually do HORRIBLE digitally because their success is fandom drivn. BTS does not.

This article is not about kpop groups, it is about BTS and If only you had bother to read table in the initial thread, you would see that BTS physical album sales actual are actually LESS THAN HALF of their total cspc.. BUT go ahead and don't let facts get in the way of your prejudice.

If your fandom buy 8 Million of 1 album from you & you have the best selling album OF ALL TIME in your country in 3 weeks (6th biggest market) & the biggest selling international album of the decade in Japan (the 2nd biggest market). It is safe to say your fandom is the GP. They also have some of the biggest hits in Asia and Spring Day  possibly being the biggest song of the decade in Korea.

Stop sounding ignorant and prejudice.

What other Kpop group or Jpop group sale 5.5 Million album a year? or anything near BTS?

Also, BTS albums charts tend to have Adele/21-style chart runs in Korea. They stay top10 for yearssssssss. THEY CURRENTLY HAVE 7 ALBUMS IN THE TOP30 ALBUM CHARTS IN KOREA AS I TYPE.

http://gaonchart.co.kr/main/section/chart/album.gaon

BTS are near god status in Korea, that is why the president, the government keep honoring them, that's why they even discussed making a law to keep them from going to the military service cause they are one of the the biggest touristic attraction to Korea bringing in 17% of tourist and $3.6B illion a yeesr

FandomOnly did that! lol

Also, you really have a lot of nerve to say that it's easier for Korean artist than it is for American artist. Look at the size of the markets, look at the chance of being played in radios around the world if you do not sing in English.

Boy bye!
