Ruin your career? Gurl, these are already established and consolidated artists  They ain't newcomers trying to break into the mainstream. At this point they can just release whatever they want. They already have MILLIONS to fall back on (including numerous awards, merchandise royalties, etc)

Made the mistake of listening to rubbish YT version first. Now Ive heard & downloaded a proper version I can confirm this song is absolute FIRE. Miles better than that other Fifty shades 1D related duet.

UF debuted at #65 and look what happened. 

Yeah. UF is really the biggest hit of the 2010s, when everything is put together.  Yeah, UF jumped 65-18-8-5-3-3-2-1, so Mars can obviously have a smash without first week theatrics.

It's because it was JT's lead single after scoring one of the biggest hits of his career

 

I really thought he would do Ed's numbers based on CSTF's debut

 

I think his album will still do good numbers though (around 500k first week maybe)

Eh, her album would have performed worse without it + she wouldn’t have been able to scrape that one week top ten with “Million Reasons,” despite it being discounted for a long time and being performed everywhere.
