When stans are the only people who care about you... this is the result. His stans have been waiting and plotting on this moment for years  the support was huge but right now that's all he has so the decline will be real. And it's not like he released a pop song. His audience right now is kinda non-existent. Not sure what the label expected after waiting so long to release and putting out a "rock" song.

 

1D's success was almost solely from stans. Their hits were never that big in the US, but they had a **** ton of stans to make up for it. Now it's been years since the 1D heyday and a lot of those stans have moved on or simply aren't as invested. They may give Harry a stream but they aren't about to go full throttle for him. Beyond that, Harry NEVER had the mass appeal people loved attributing to him. Zayn was the only one who could pull-off grown and sexy, and the only one who had legit appeal outside of the stans. Niall is bland enough to snatch Hot AC-sounding hits but that's kinda it. I will never understand why labels expected so much from him  

 

That being said, I think SOTT could sound great live. He could turn this around but I don't expect it to be some huge smash. I mean really, how could it be? What radio format does it appeal to? He is very limited rn.

They are not here for him because he is making trash song s and not at all promoting. People were really here for Pillowtalk. Proved by the longevity in the top 10 even without promo. ESP USA. But he didn't capitalize on it

Hypocrites here acting as though theyre all restrained and reasoned when their faves are doing well on itunes. Harry fans have a right to bask in the glory at the time just like you do when your faves leaping up the charts. Whether it lasts a day or 3 months. Its lasted 3 whole days and could still hold onto the lead for 4-5 days. Then he has SNL. And still a video. So just as you're accusing fans of jumping the gun proclaiming it a huge success you are also jumping the gun trying to imply its a flop. None of us know where its heading.

 

And the song is already steadying in UK & Australia. Only losing 2-4% in last 10 hours or so (0.65UK, 0.55AUS)

Honestly Zayn would fair a lot better if he promoted. 2 global hits already and nothing from him whatsoever. He could have definitely capitalize on both of those songs to grow his fanbase but chose to do nothing. If he wants to bounce back he needs to start getting out there. All former 1d members seem to be underperforming tho so at least it's not just him

lol I knew that rock song was gonna not do that well when it first appeared. I understand what he's trying to do but people are overrating his popularity. The GP doesn't know him besides the guy who dated Taylor and he waited too long. The song won't do well at streaming at all and radio isn't going to play it. I can see his other songs under preforming. 

 

Hopefully his acting career works out.

Which is really sad, because real Rock music has been blocked from Top 40 stations for eight years now. Since (at least I think) this is still called "The Rock Era," why should Top 40 affiliates be so afraid of their listeners hearing an electric guitar that tries to break the Pop monotony?
