Kworb has Hello as the strongest selling single going against the competition for a reason, and UF isn't far behind. Would Hello have had a bigger opening week in 2013? Or would the demand for her music after four years instead of two compensate for the drop in sales from 2013 to 2015?

Oh, I absolutely believe she would have had a bigger debut in 2013. Not by a ton, though, maybe something around 1.3 or 1.4 million IMO. That's just my intuition though, not based on any facts.

I think it definitely would've had more sales longevity too, probably selling on the order of RITD.

Based on my projections, "Shape Of You" might end up selling a total of 2,5M when it's all said and done. Pretty much on par with 2016's best selling hits.

Which is really impressive given that sales look like they'll decline another ~25% this year. I rephrased my post above to say that SOY may well be the only song to sell 2M copies in 2017. After all, the next few best-sellers so far this year are:

IDWLF– 928k sold in 2017, 13k projected by Kworb for this week

TWIL– 620k, 73k

B&B– 556k, 13k

BLABR– 546k, 61k

All those are crossing the 1M mark this year (IDWLF already has).

If Taylor and Eminem release this year, they'll have big singles sales as well.

Yep, it's at 1.584M according to Nielsen's Q1 update. It could be the only song to sell 2M in 2017...

It also looks like the vinyl rebound was a short lived fad instead of an actual shift back to that configuration.

I'm not so certain about B&B hitting 1 M. It's already slowed way down at only 550k. Hunt will get to 1 M though, as will Mars.

So Hello will be the last song ever to cross 5M sales? Or can CTTF! do it too? Any other song released after Hello even close to 5M?

Has any song even sold 400k in a full week since Hello? Can't Stop The Feeling had 367k its opening week, and that's the biggest post Hello week I know of off the top of my head.

No other song opened with 400k since then... also no other song crossed 3 million since "Hello".

It shouldn't. There are 30-something weeks left in the year. Even if it somehow sold ~10k in every one of those weeks, it still wouldn't make it to 1M

I'm talking about total sales. Bad And Boujee has already sold 778k as of last week.

If Timberlake also releases this year, he'll have huge sales in the singles department as well.

I think "Hello" will be the last song to cross 5 million, these days songs don't even cross 3 million.

No... CSTF! will barely reach 3M in three months from now :toofunny2:

Songs that are close to 4M (and have a chance of actually getting there) are "Shut Up And Dance", and "Last Friday Night".

Double post :cm:

There might be other catalog songs close to 4M and 5M, but I'm not 100% sure since Soundscan is cheap as hell and don't release figures anymore. But no other song released after "Hello" will get to 5M ever again.

I didn't take B&B's previous sales into consideration. It'll probably get right to 1 M, but it might need the EOY boost to do so.

She hit top 5 the first week it was discounted, keep up! I don't see any of the other discounted songs currently at top 5 either :cm:

She wasn't even top 5 on HDS that week :cm:

Closer should hit 3 M by the end of 2017, as it still has both BBMAs and EOY boosts to reach the 350k or so left needed to hit 3 M. After the sustained Oscars boost though, Closer might never catch up with Feeling.

I think 24K could get to 2 M. Its already at 1.3 and doing decently download wise.

385k for Bad Blood the week it topped the Hot100.

So BB sold just under 400k. UF had two weeks over 400k, but I think SYA only broke 400k for that one week.

"Hello" suffered 700-800k deduction because of "complete my album" and "25" was released only 4 weeks after the single, so most people bought the album (almost 8 million in 6 weeks) and that hurt "Hello" as a single significantly. I can only imagine if Adele released it 3 months before the album, as most artists do with their lead singles.

Yeah. One of Adele's fans pointed out Hello lost 720k sales, a record, due to CMA. Otherwise, Hello would have approximately 5.6 M in download sales. I wish CMA would be thou removed and be thy cast into the sea.

14. Keith Urban & Carrie Underwood - The Fighter

This held up better after the performance than I expected :clap3:

"Mask Off" by Future is becoming a sleeper hit.

I wonder it's gonna blow up for good because so far the airplay is weak as hell on Rhythmic/Urban but the song is getting huge on Spotify.
