I don't think this is a Mayhem scrap as much as it was worked on by the same team that put together Mayhem, probably shortly after they finished it, or even during the process.

As for why movie songs generally tend to be a tad underhwelming I suppose it's because it's inherently artistically constraining to do something specifically in theme for a movie, that will be palatable enough for large audiences. Not that I'm saying that the song is bad, I think it could go either way, and I really like the post-chorus and vocal delivery.

Gaga could make an album full of Abracadabras if she wants to, she just has to make something "basic" for these kind of tv shows and films I guess. Dua's Dance the Night was basically a scrapped song from FN and less interesting than all of FN singles but still smashed. I'm not saying it's gonna smash but you really never know.

Take the summer off while these songs are smashing simultaneously

October 2: LG8 release (Abel collab is on it) & focus single MV release

I think Gaga's at the point where she can be undeniable with only one single leading into an album release but the song has to be perfect à la BR/BTW/Abra for it to work. Then when LG8 drops, let the focus single do its thing for a couple of weeks before seeing if any album tracks gain traction before making the most popular one a single in 2027 heading into awards season. Voila, you have a another smash era in the casket
