If someone passes Go, lands on Community Chest (between Baltic and Mediterranean), and gets the Go to Jail card ("Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200.), does said person collect $200?

 

I think the person gets $200 because passing Go happens BEFORE the card is drawn, but others in my party think the "do not collect $200" on the card supersedes everything.

you get $200 anytime you pass Go under normal conditions. the "do not collect $200" on the go to jail card only counts for if you are passing Go while already on the way to jail. if you passed Go before you even pulled the card, you definitely get to collect that $200.

I have always played that you get the $200.  Because you can think of it as, you passed through go and while passing through, you collected the money before even stopping at community chest.  
 

I think the: "do not collect $200" is there so people don't try to claim that they pass go on the way to jail.

Chiming in to say that you collect $200 for passing Go. The card only applies if sending you to Jail would cause you to go through Go. Since it had nothing to do with the original passage, its restrictions don't apply

If that card would have been any other card you'd get the 200. If you got this card before passing go, then you would not. The card says if you pass go AFTER pulling the card, don't collect the 200. Like if you landed between jail and on the way to but have not reached go, you're not gonna collect the 200 when you do pass as the card instructs you to.

You get to collect the 200.
