Do I spill taste?

Back in 2021, I decided to create my own personal charts for albums with my own methodology. The methodology is based on points that albums accumulate depending on how I classify how much I liked that album during that specific listen (1 play = 1 day | 5 days = 1 "week" on my chart). I usually listen to 20/25 albums per "week" (it takes around 2/2.5 weeks to make 1 "week" actually).

I started with a few albums from the 70s, and now I'm in mid-2011.

These are the top 10 biggest albums so far:

1. The Fame - 4.31 million points (Peak: #1 for 5 weeks)

2. Blackout - 4.03 million (Peak: #1 for 6 weeks)

3. Daydream - 3.84 million (Peak: #1 for 3 weeks)

4. Confessions On a Dance Floor - 3.83 million (Peak: #1 for 4 weeks)

5. Thriller - 3.71 million (Peak: #1 for 3 weeks)

6. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - 3.26 million (Peak: #1 for 3 weeks)

7. The Emancipation of Mimi - 3.19 million (Peak: #1 for 2 weeks)

8. In The Zone - 3.13 million (Peak: #2 for 4 weeks)

9. Music Box - 2.90 million (Peak: #2 for 2 weeks)

10. Music - 2.88 million (Peak: #1 for 3 weeks)

These are the top biggest artists so far (by points)

1. Mariah Carey (10 albums) - 19.7 million points

2. Britney Spears (7 albums) - 12.5 million

3. Madonna (11 albums) - 12.4 million

4. Michael Jackson (11 albums) - 11.5 million

5. Kylie Minogue (11 albums) - 8.6 million

6. Céline Dion (8 albums) - 7.7 million

7. Kanye West (5 albums) - 7.5 million

8. Whitney Houston (6 albums + Bodyguard) - 7.2 million

9. Lady Gaga (2 albums + 1 EP) - 6.8 million

10. Avril Lavigne (4 albums) - 6.7 million

Am I spilling taste so far?

Interesting...I've kinda made my own fan fiction charts as well; though I haven't devised a methodology yet.

Lemonade debuted 5 songs in the top 10. The best performing single was "6 Inch" (peak #3 for 4 weeks) followed by "Love Drought."

Beyoncé bombed the entire top 10. 7/11 debuted at #11, and peaked at #7.

I know....I'm odd

Lorde made me appreciate albums as a complete body of work, so I kinda stopped listening to singles on a regular basis. Plus, if I counted songs, it'd become too hard to follow, so that weighted on my decision as well

If real charts were remotely similar to yours the world would be a better place, so yes you spilled.

All I see is major label pop artists. Where are the indie artists, where are the obscure girls, where are the non-mainstream genre artists? I will give you a 3 point for at least listening to great albums but, the taste is giving basic and un-exploratory outside of the radio top 100.

4.5/10 on the taste. Nothing shocking, nothing exciting, just safe. A little disappointed.
