Anecdotally I have heard people say they listen to music much less nowadays and just spend that time scrolling TikToks, maybe playing a podcast or stream.

Is music over? Are we all paying attention to a flop artistic medium that holds little cultural relevance anymore?

flop artistic medium? Tiktok, youtube, instagram, live venues like clubs and bars, almost every single public gathering... none of these would happen in a world without music.

Billboard is just simply pathetic. It truly triggers me how people still think it's the most important chart. Global Spotify Chart actually reflects real smashes the most accurately.

no one cares about the charts anymore except ATRL and stan twitter

Yes, there is no more music. Shut the atrl servers

No, but this is a slow summer for sure...

When was the last time we didn't have a couple of summer hits?

The competition this year is very non-existent.

there is successful music but it is Morgan Wallen and Alex Warren dominating #1 and their music is bad.

No, but charts are.

Many of y'all have been needing to let go of them for a while now. I'm always a bit gagged when I still see people get sweaty over radio rollout for their fave's newest single. Nobody cares about radio anymore. Music consumption has changed so drastically that people have more individualized musical experiences. It's sad to lose the sense of community with music, but it is just where we're at as a society.
