Most horror films resort to shock value rather than good storytelling. There are exceptions, but not many

Many Academy voters do not want to watch films that will either scare them or gross them out, just like a large percentage of the general public.

Because by design it's a polarizing genre, a movie you either love or despise is not going to fare well in a voting process.

They prefer thrillers or crime dramas.

They are pretty much pu*sies.

They will love nudity and sex and a woman being degraded but strong.

So doesn't this mean the voting rules should change or change up who is behind the voting scheme  i'm not a big of the gangster genre yet that genre should still be respected and get it dues when it needs them

I don't know but it's ridiculous because horror is an extremely demanding genre and a great horror performance is a much bigger physical and professional challenge than a demure damsel with a vaguely British accent in a period piece.

But then again the big winners of most recent ceremonies were not successful and didn't really become successful after their win(s) either so I guess people know that the Academy doesn't really represent their taste

Nope. Horror films have a very low standard, only other genres as consistently mid are rom coms and comic book movies.

So what did you mean by  only other genres as consistently mid are rom coms and comic book movies.

so where do the other genres stand

At least horror movies usually have very dedicated fanbases and are remembered for decades to come. No one remembers some random drama Best Picture winner.

The Substance:

Box office $77 million

Anora:

Box office $41 million

Miss Moore won in the end.

The funny thing is that horror is the best genre right now to experiment and make something unique and different that can turn into profit, besides milking IPs to death. The Substance, Hereditary, Mad God, Pearl, Jordan Peele's movies, Talk to Me (youtubers turned into profitable directors), Late Night With The Devil, When Evil Lurks, The Witch, and hell, even if the Terrifier franchise might not have the best scripts, Damien Leone puts enough care and effort into the makeup and practical effects to make something more exciting than your typical CGI fest in major blockbusters

The Academy hates cinema as a whole, period. It is just a pillar of an industry that does not care about art.

This years ceremony felt like it was taking forever to arrive and Demi peaked too soon. If they'd had the ceremony a month ago, I'm convinced the mood of the Academy would have been in Demi's favor. I don't even know who this little girl is who won.
