Anyway, the reason they were able to chart on the Hot 100 is because they released CD singles for $3.99 at Target, with one version for each member, (with 16 versions in total) and used a buddy system to boost sales. I think we might see more Kpop acts doing this in the future if Billboard doesn't change the rules. Mind you this is a group that has never charted on US Spotify Global or charted high on US iTunes:

 

 

Yeah, I found out later. They were also selling the CDs at Target for $3.99 with 16 versions.  It explains how they managed to chart on the Hot 100, even though the song probably had under 1 million streams in the U.S. I wouldn't be surprised if more groups start doing the same.

 

I'm honestly surprised to see ATEEZ outperform boy groups like TXT, ENHYPEN, and SEVENTEEN on the Billboard 200 and Hot 100. ATEEZ is in a weird spot, cause they definitely have a loud U.S. and global fanbase, but it doesn't seem large enough to impact major global metrics like Spotify Global, YouTube, Apple Music, or charting high on iTunes etc., which is why seeing them chart on Hot 100 is so surprising.

 

I still don't think that ATEEZ are bigger than TXT, SVT or ENHYPEN in the US for example

 

What is this weird aggression? You asked how ATEEZ debuted on the chart AFTER we already knew about the 30k physical singles, which provides 30 points. You even directly addressed their streams being low on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube. So I provided a link that shows you that K-pop fans have been using Pandora for streaming now because it doesn't filter out streams, as opposed to Spotify. ATEEZ have no GP following, but their fanbase is dedicated and will do streaming parties on Pandora. I only posted the BTS Twitter account because they keep leaking the streaming methods used by fandoms.

Yes, the devil of kpop has been album sales. Everyone wants record breaking first weeks so announce the album 2 months in advance for pre-orders  I really don't want to know/see an album until 2 weeks prior to release. It's tiring. I forgot Twice was even having a comeback

 

Yeah idk, usually they only tease this long for full albums. Teasing for a month with a performance video etc for a single is very odd and makes no sense. Lets go back to 2 week teasers.

Part of what they want to do now is have search topics trend in advance so they're ready to go. Usually when a song drops, there are no suggested recommendations unless they pay for ads. But if fans start searching the keywords weeks in advance, then search engines will update their algorithms to promote that content.

 

It's a huge part of why Aespa is pushing on Apple and YouTube for weeks before the comeback.
