Sometimes, I'll randomly come back to this one, and it's the only one from that album that I go out of my way to listen to.

 

Now, I love Let's Get Crazy, When Doves Cry and Darling Nikki, but this one is an absolute highlight in his discography. 

 

Truly a master of his craft and one of the greatest artists to ever impact the music industry. My only regret is that I discovered his music far too late to see him live.

There's an understated simplicity to it. My fav Prince song actually.

 

I can also hear shades of it in these:

- I'm sure a song from Nicki & The Dove's Everybody's Heart's Broken Now interpolates a synth riffin the instrumental break but I can't remember which

- this classique:

Heard this for the first time on a Slayyyter live stream, she was dancing to it in her kitchen or something and I was like... bop.
