Which one of these albums do you prefer? I'm not even going to include a poll option about sales since this is purely about music and I don't want the mods to think this is flamebait or a troll thread, since the answer is obvious.

Vogue was created as a b-side to the last single from LAP and Warner forced her to hold it back for I'm Breathless since it's a mediocre album with niche appeal and ZERO good single choices. The fact that this story is public knowledge says everything you need to know about the project and how everybody involved except Madonna felt about it. It was ambitious but she didn't stick the landing, a swing and a miss. Madonna's 90s run is perfect if we pretend this album never happened.

 

Harlequin is full of safe song choices and a couple of REAL stinkers like The Joker but she's technically in her prime and amazing at delivering Jazz/Trad pop and finally bringing some of her own musical identity to one of these records makes it a fun listen that stands alongside the rest of her discography in a way IB could never have been. Gaga wasn't swinging for anything here this album was right up her alley.

I'm Breathless and it's not even close. A really well crafted album and essential to Madonna's career. It works perfectly and she delivers and showcases her versatility as a singer and performer. 

 

Harlequin is just plain bad and unnecessary.

not when The Joker is by far the best song on it

anyway, both have like two good songs and neither album is particularly memorable. Vogue clears everything from both albums but Harlequin has the better album cover. Gaga is also the better singer. 

 

I don't count I'm Breathless as a studio album and I won't count Harlequin as one either.

Please leave Madonna alone, it's kinda disrespectful to even ask those questions and compare her classics to harlewhatever it was

I havent heard Madonna's but Harlequin is one of her best albums.
