Katy had a traumatic childhood. She was raised as a strict Christian. very strict. She could not eat Lucky Charms cereal because 'luck' reminded her mother of the word Lucifer. She had to call deviled eggs, "angeled eggs". She had to sneak secular music into the house because only gospel music was allowed. she wasnt told fairy tales because they involved magic; only VeggieTales were allowed.

 

Can you imagine growing up in that kind of environment? Now can you imagine being a young girl and deciding to break away from your parents iron grip and join the secular world? her parents disapproved of her. so now she is on her own, in the real world, and her parents have turned her back on her. the ONLY people you can count on in life; gone.

 

but here comes the music industry. they shower her with praise. "youre amazing Katheryn!". then the GP shower her with praise by giving her #1 after #1. she couldnt get her parents approval, so she sought it from musical success. this is why she ran back to Dr.Luke. She needs success because it replaced her parents approval in her psyche.

 

So all of you judging her, calling her every name in the book, making fun of her downfall. How about you show some compassion for a 37 year old woman who, despite having fame, fortune, a beautiful child, a wonderful husband, still has childhood trauma  to the point where she NEEDS success to replace what her parents dont give her.

 

katy needs therapy, not anger. Once she works through the trauma of her childhood, she will come back stronger than ever. and a changed woman.

She needs a six month volunteer shift at RAINN and connect with victims of rape and sexual assault to understand that working with a man who raped various women was a slap in the face to all her fans who are survivors of similar circumstances. 

The only traumatized ones are us, the common people who considered themselves KatyCats at one point. She doesn't read ATRL unfortunately, or else she'd be able to read the room for once.

A #1 hit, something Katy hasn't had since 2014

I've been enjoying the pile-on, but I agree that it's become too much. Obviously she made bad PR choices, but the situation is not as black-and-white as we're making it, and there's a lot of personal history and context that we don't have. 

Nope. I could try to forgive her if she accepted that she made a mistake and dropped the rapist while issuing an apology, but she's stubborn as a mule and would rather pretend that she's unbothered while continuing to release Dr. Luke-produced songs.

 

Also the "but Gaga! Doja! Kim Petras!" whataboutism needs to stop. I feel like we've beaten that dead horse more than Katy's career.

I don't hate Katy at all but let's be honest, she needs a new team, and working with Dr Puke made things 10,000 times worse.

Feeling sorry for Katy doesn't automatically make her music good. It's as if we're expected to keep stanning her just because we feel sorry for her.

But that's not how it works. We can empathize with her (unlike how she lacked empathy for Kesha) and acknowledge the sadness in her story, but that doesn't make anyone a stan. You can't victimize yourself to win back your fans.

Umm no, she's a household name this time and not just starting off her career. She could've taken a stance and made a statement and people would welcome her dearly. Now she's left with flops and not many people have respect for her as an artist because of working with him.

I was literally thinking of the same copypasta before I saw that you already posted it I think this atrl comment single-handedly put an irreversible curse on Katy's career
