Sigh... I had some hope for this song but it just has like... zero flavor to it? I'm disappointed.

I just think there is so much more she could have done with this song, the memes comparing it to like a generic Love Island background track are very accurate, I'm afraid. She really should have worked with some other producers because, controversy aside, this is not her best.

Like where are the high notes? Where are the runs? Walking on Air dances circles around this song.

Eh, I'm sure you guys would like to believe this, but it's not 100% true. For the online girls and gays, sure; and no one denies it because, shocker, we don't support raping people. But the public, which also hates the song and didn't latch onto it, doesn't know all that much, if anything at all about Dr. Luke.

 

The song (WW) objectively is not good. It's just not.

 

These kinds of posts also ignore the context. The issue here is not just that it's produced by Dr. Luke, it's that Katy chose to work with again after having been involved in his very public rape case against a contemporary. That shows a callous disregard for human life and common decency. Some people just don't want to support that.
