I feel like she found her sound with crash and now with brat. Her sound was either too experimental (pop 2) or too pop (sucker). Now it's a nice blend. It's more accessible but still more innovative than what the other girls are doing

I would argue she found exactly her sound with the VV > N1A > P2 > Charli build-up

 

Like that was an amazing run full of her best music

 

I wouldn't say Crash and Brat are her finding 'her' sound, especially Crash is not that, but Brat is a step in the right direction 

This song is absolutely legendaric it must be said. Charli XCX is such a pop legend, perhaps the fiercest we've got.

It might be for Charli's standards but I wouldn't say it sounds like a basic song in general, the beat is kinda edgy when you compare to what the masses listen to. 

update: still a smash, an iconic album opener, transitioning between eras, a summer anthem, a wild girl summer moment, a cultural reset etc.
