They’re pretty reliable and consistent, and even the films that personally don’t connect are usually worth a watch, if only once.

Absolutely not. Not saying that every single one of their movies is a masterpiece, but they do have some of the best films of this century. They actually invest in amazing original ideas and scripts a

  • yes everything everywhere all at once is their biggest farce yet

Uh... no. But ironically the film OP mentions, Under the Skin, I find very overrated :rip:

Their films aren't all the same quality but they're pretty reliable in terms of serving a film that's interesting and well made... not many studios you can say that about if any.

I don’t know really. I have a problem with watching movies - they are usually long. I can’t focus for more than 5 minutes :rip: So it’s hard to tell

Yeah Blumhouse is superior

not when they dropped that god awful Halloween (2018) trilogy...

No. A24 is the Beyoncé of movies, serves quality after quality and if anything, it's underrated

They made Hereditary, that alone ended careers and is one of the best horror films ever so the answer is no :cm:

Don't know how many movies I saw made by them but I personally loved The Iron Claw. So I would say no.

Well, I have not seen many of their movies outside of horror, but that would be enough for me to definitely confirm that they do aspire for original ideas and content. However, what starts interesting as an idea tends to end up in some convoluted way just for the sake of it being perplexed in itself with point eventually getting muted. They have made disservice to some of their material that way. Thankfully, directors like West and Strickland didn't let them get their material scattered and without substantial pay off.

yes just cause it has a confusing plot and is artsy doesnt make it good

Yes, I fear. I loved A24 when I was a teenager in my avant-garde film nerd phase, but I've grown out of them now and find a large portion of their films irritating. I also just hate everything the company personifies...selling grossly overpriced, "exclusive" merch for insufferable hipsters that look down on anyone that doesn't like the same movies they do. I cannot stand A24 film snobs. Just so annoying.

But I do find the studio overrated. They have some good movies, but I've grown out of many of them, too.

Same. Not only them but many similar types of production companies are a lot like that. I feel the ending of many of their movies are really MEH, not just them its just the state of cinema and entertaiment industry right now; many (what I call) coitus interruptus films and songs, and see some script/writer shyness, not quality control at all, no nuances, shock just for shocking, a lot of style over substance. I have outgrow them as well, I dont know what happen with Hollywood and their lazyness (no script doctors and greenlightning 1rst draft movies), international cinema dont give me what Hollywood used to give, too much pseudo artsy films for festivals or cheap cgi Marvel like movies, sometimes (most of the time) you want good b movies/mis budget/ comfort films. I fell the same with pop music and music in general lately, so many songs (jingles) sounding like demos with no layering...

One of the only studios out there consistently taking a chance on challenging and artistic filmmaking. So no, we love A24!

That list alone has Good Time, Ex Machina, The Lighthouse and Marcel The Shell, so I'm more inclined to say they're easily the best American studio working right now
