Is Britney voice unique?

Featured Replies

Personally I’ve always loved her voice, she’s just made for pop music and she’s never been anything other but herself. She’s just like Janet and Michael Jackson, a distinctive voice that made such a huge Impact on pop culture followed by exceptional dance skills making them perfect pop stars during their peak and legendary enough to guarantee a legend status and devoted fanbase.

yea, i’ve always loved her tone    she just oozes sex

  • People who say she ‘can’t sing’ are beyond help. She created that signature vocal tone all by herself when she was 16/17 and then went further into that territory starting with Crazy (The Stop! Remix)

Yes, I think Jive was very smart back then that they're see something in her more than just the voice and doesn't want her just to become a vocalist artist, and she always complaining the pop music doesn't let her show case her vocals.

It is not how good your voice is but rather than you known how to used them in a right way.

And lemme streams Mood Ring again... The song is just so good. :cries:

They’re all emulating one woman’s voice. That’s kind of the point

Touché!

Absolutely. She shares that with Whitney, when she sings you know its her.

I don’t think it is really unique considering many people can imitate easily. Also she could have her backup singer Imamate her voice as well.

She has an unique voice. Her vocal fry is her signature style.

When you hear a britney track you know who’s singing. Her voice is iconic. All the main pop girls have distinct sounds.

The theory that her label moulded her voice to distinguish her from Christina is just a theory that doesn't have any fact behind it, plus it doesn't really make much sense as by the time Christina broke through with Genie, Britney had already been well established for months and didn't really need anything to separate her from Christina, their voices were never very similar even in Britney's earliest recordings.

Nobody can really emulate it accurately though. Her voice is easy to impersonate, not replicate. One of the reasons why people so often do impersonations of her is because a voice that is so unique and iconic is easy to mimic in a way that's universally recognised, but it doesn't actually sound like Britney is the one who is singing.

Her live voice isn’t the best but her recorded voice is one of my favorites. The best voice for pop music for sure!

Janet & Michael sweeties....... Their mic was actually ON when they were stepping on that studio :deadbanana:

Yes. You know Britney when you hear her. She actually has a very pleasant voice and tone, being able to mold it around almost any type of music. I consider her to be the quintessential pop artist because of it. And for as popular as she still is, she's actually not celebrated enough.

Imitation is the highest form of flattery. Her actual tone cannot be replicated- which is why Myah Marie didn't fare well with the fans, she tried to do Britney's technique but she didn't hit the mark

I don't think it was all Jive's doing actually, Britney personally sat down with Max Martin for a month in his home in Sweden to conceptualize that voice!

Her baby voice isn't really that unique, when you realize Innosence (her original band) had that voice.

tone =/= singing style

their tones aren't similar to Britney's and to be frank neither are their singing styles

So you are saying you don't hear some Britney in the beginning?

that's just a girl switching into her head voice mixed with some 80s pop isms, that's not what made Britney stand out, and I wouldn't say she's really known for doing that? Britney doesn't have a lot of singles where that's prevelant. Sure maybe Sometimes has similar chord progressions, but that kind of singing style nah. Either way, none of her signature hits from those eras sound like that to me. Also those girls sound smooth like butter, Britney's signature style is lowkey the opposite.

I mean basically I can see how it's reminiscent of Britney, but it isn't what would be considered the unique part of Britney's vocal presentation.
