Times when critics were wrong

The fact that her weakest album got three 100s shows you what good PR gets you. This album did not deserve a 85, it should be somewhere in the 60s at best.

That's, kind of, their thing. It'd be more interesting to answer about the times they were right. :coffee2: All of these arbitrary numbers really don't mean a single thing, other than a critic overestimating their own importance—like they're some type of maestro. Pfft, please...

Solar Power. It’s still weak by Lorde’s standards but should be a 75ish on MC.

erotica

idk about katy because they're maybe like 60s at best but britney's earlier projects perhaps, i would also lump femme fatale in with that

100% agree with Vroom Vroom and ARTPOP. Absolutely not with BTD and Ultraviolence (even though I love Lana).

BTD might not be Lana's best but it was like 3 points away from being labeled as mixed :rip:  there are albums by Demi Lovato and Camila Cabello with a higher score, that's definitely not right.

How could I forget my own fave's album? :rip:

This one and Stripped by miss Xtina were unfairly rated, based on their reputation at the moment.

Charlie Puth's Charlie having a 70+ score when most of the songs are immature or bland.

It really doesn’t though. The fact that a few critics called it a masterpiece is too much acclaim for that album already.

Critics are incredibly lukewarm to Florence and especially Hozier, which is absurd. And indeed BTD and UV are too low

Beyonce and Lemonade are both bad albums that critics overrated due to the way they were released.

The way this album got panned originally just to become her masterpiece all these years later with 10.0 score on Pitchfork

Born to die, Vroom Vroom, ARTPOP and Ultraviolence deserved better.

This. Born to die is the best example. The way critics switched on Lana like f****** :soda:Born to die is still charting at 500+ weeks

Vroom Vroom is STILL ahead of its time

MDNA.jpg

Metacritic score: 64 (instead of the 20 it deserves)

550x556.jpg

Metacritic score: 52 (deserved at least 65, definitely more than MDNA got)

NC05Mzk2LmpwZWc.jpeg

Metacritic score: 78 (A cute album, but a 78 is a bit much... 66 would've been more appropriate)

Any other examples?

Let's not turn this into a Britney's/Xtina's whole discography mess :rip:

This

has a Metacritic score of 62, while this

A face portrait of Minogue kissing a clear glass screen, with water droplets running down. A blue-ish background is behind the woman, with the text "Kiss Me Once" present on the bottom right corner.

has a Metacritic score of 66.

I have no problems with KMO's score, but it's a crime against humanity for Body Language to be below it.

How did Body Language get a 62? I am shocked.

It was a pre-poptimism album, even Fever as retrospectively acclaimed as it is only got a 68. Body Language being more experimental and less approachable was bound to get a worse score.

Mariah Carey's entire discography besides Caution.
Mariah was always blasted by critics with low scores criticizing her lyrics and stating that her vocals were more impressive than expressive. :clown:
