many of today's popular artists don't put in the hours and practice like the old guard did. It also doesn't help that there are less avenues these days to hone someone's craft before putting them on a world stage. A&R doesn't really exist anymore, people don't join church choirs like they used to and music departments are defunded and cut in public schools across the states. To get some serious training and prior experience, your best bet would be attending a performing arts school/music college. Perusing through Ice's wiki, she doesn't have any of the above training. She was an athelete in school and didn't start seriously pursuing music until dropping out of college which was only a few years ago.
