On ‘The Idol,’ Why Are the Weeknd’s Acting Skills Nonexistent?

 

In “The Idol,” the Weeknd plays Tedros a Svengali character who does not possess a heart of gold or maybe even a personality. Early in his appearance, he sidles up to Lily-Rose Depp as Jocelyn, the title character. He whispers something to her.

“Welcome to my little shithole.”

I don’t think he was talking about his acting chops, but one never knows.

“Welcome to my little shithole” is giving self-loathing faceless grindr profile sending you a weird ass message with no prior warning or hello

It's giving bullying at this point.

The show is bad, but based off the first episode it's just meandering, nothing 'shocking' even happens. Half the episode close to nothing happens actually. 

 

It's more boring than some gross-out situation so far. His acting is really bad though, clearly didn't bother taking lessons. Stiff as hell. 

He has musical talent, not everyone has that

Why can't he act? Because he's not an actor. He's a singer who like so many before him assumed that they could dabble in acting but ultimately ended up looking like an embarrassment. Only a few can do both and he is clearly not one of them.

was anyone really expecting him to be some world class actor? his acting is meh, lily rose is terrible as well.

By the way I like his bops. But I wouldn't call it musical talent.

A lot of actors can’t act but if have a blind fans base who says. They can enough the world will believe it

A big fanbase or being popular has never been enough for an actor in order to get acclaim or being considered a talented actor and making people or the industry believe that, especially when it comes to singers turning actors.
