Here are a couple of arguments for this:

 

1. Don’t Start Now was released in a much more competitive climate, it was competing with Blinding Lights, Someone You Loved, Circles. Not to mention local artists

 

2. Flowers was released by an already established artist who came off of a publicized breakup

 

3. Streaming has grown immensely since 2020

 

4. Columbia put ALL their effort, playlisting and money into Flowers. Evidenced by the second single ‘River’ and the rest of the album bombing. Atleast Dua managed to secure another mega smash hit and two medium sized hits as well :gayalipacat3:
