Both of these songs just feel so 2014'd and tumblr'd to me.

 

These two Ariana songs from 2014 aged like an avocado. Both have horns that really give it the 2014 sound that dates it for me.

anyway, I think the perfect example of a “dated” song is don’t let me down by chainsmokers / Daya.  I can handle most of their other hits I guess but

I don't see the problem with Flawless, everyone was making heavy trap influenced songs like that around 2017-18. The H-town bit is straight 2013-14 sound, but the rest of the song is fine

arguably the worst production i’ve ever heard on a mainstream pop hit. and her voice is SO strained too  and before anyone comes at me i’m the farthest thing from an OAKH, in fact i think she’s been mostly done wrong by the GP. Unthinkable and Girl on Fire both deserved the success No One got

Billie was already a hitmaker before Britney, but dear god, this is one the most post-Britney wannabe sounding tracks I’ve ever heard

It's the lyrics that date the songs more than the sounds. That's why I get really annoyed that Beyoncé and Taylor Swift are doing Instagram/TikTok caption-esque lyrics in most of their newer songs ("It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me" and "'Cause them Karens just turned into terrorists" for example). They need to be stopped.

I agree Bang bang has a clunky production but Problem is Flawless. It's pop candy 

Many massive hits from from the pop-dance era 2009-2011 come to mind

 

Unlistenable now but i kinda lived as a 14 year old boy

Omg, this. I listened to it a while ago and didn't remember it sounding so strained. A shame since the lyrics and melody are great.

lowkey john legend's all of me and not cause it sounds bad, but the fact that it dominated 2014 I really cany imagine a song like that taking off in any way these days.

I swear that Party Rock Anthem sounded so good when I heard it when I was 11, but it sounds so bad
