I have a feeling it's a combination of the knetz being extra pearl-clutchy with RIIZE for some reason (theyve tried to cancel at least 3 of the members so far), and Seunghan's mental health being unable to handle the vicious scrutiny thrown at him

 

We know he struggled the first time when the girlfriend thing happened - he missed some performances and burst out in tears at a music show pre-record. I imagine its even worse for him now that its evolved into full on blackmail

Well I think when SM called it an "indefinite hiatus" it was already not looking good at all. 

Even with Lucas they didn't call it that, instead they said he would leave NCT/WayV and re-debut later as a solo artist.

 

Considering Seunghan just debuted, idk why they couldn't have said something similar, it seems they reacted harshly this time.
