2015 was a really good year for Kpop where the 2nd Gen group have their last shining moment and 3rd Gen group starting to breakthrough before taking over Kpop from 2016-2017 onwards.

I can’t exactly tell why but to me 2009-2015 feels like a completely different concept and meaning of K-pop than that what it is today.

The JYP Division 2 are infamously being known for incompetence and fumbled their artists as much as possible ever since JYP introduce the division system around 2018-2019.

 

This is why Got7 choose not to renew their contract and even JYP himself jumpship to Division 3 (Twice division) and poor ITZY girlies being the only group have to stuck with Division 2 at least until 2026 when their contract was up to renew. I hope the A2K and the JYPNBG (JYP Loud) groups are not assigned to this division or else it's DOA for them even before they started.

Early Kpop had a desperation to it.

 

 

Idols in the 2nd/3rd gen weren’t rich kids debuting due to nepotism. They were mostly normal people who have families to support. If you flopped, you disbanded. You flopped and you were thousands in debt to a sketchy company with no other options because you dropped out of school. The industry took advantage of that, and exploited it. 

 

Companies would do anything for success. Girlgroups had no choice but to do overtly sexy concepts that were practically forced onto them. They’d wear revealing clothes, shake their asses and pray they’ll be the next EXID / AOA / Girls Day. But most of them ended up being Stellars or HelloVenus’. Or worse yet G.NA and driven to prostitution.

 

A time full of bops yes, but I’m glad sexy concepts are dead for ggs. The only girls who should be doing them are the ones who want to like Hyolyn/Sunmi.
