Great seeing small groups rise to fame!

Hope this can build 5050s fanbase too. Kpop acts need a fandom to be successful.

Both 50/50 and NewJeans are global success and they both don’t have a big loud bulk-buying fandom on internet that their faves struggling to get 10m listeners on Spotify

People in the real world outside actually stream 50/50 and NewJeans out in the open

sorry but OMG/Ditto are nowhere near Cupid success with the general public

This is the alleged tracklist! Fiftyfifty is not only on it but is going to close out the album with an original song made *for* the Barbie movie  with Kali. If true, I wouldn't be surprised if we heard it in theaters.

Edit: It's real :monkey: we won :wanda:

People asking what about aespa? What about BlackPink? What about BTS? On Fifty Fifty bagging this Barbie gig.

Are you just now starting to see that Kpop's hype in the West has largely been inorganic and smoke and mirrors?

Big fandoms made noise online and that made it profitable for Western media entities to put out more K-POP content for clicks. But when you see Rolling Stone and NME praising whatever trash Kpop song these groups put out, or when you see these groups invited to this random red carpet or award show, rest assured it's just for fans' clicks and online engagement, not because they're actualy genuinely popular. The album sales aren't even real. It's bulk bought from a handful of fans and most of it ends up clogging river cannels.

This is largely because the music isn't slapping. Kpop focuses too much on everything else but the music and the vocal performance skills are deteriorating by the minute. They are below expectations to everyone BUT Kpop stans.

Even the most popular groups in the West, Blackpink and BTS can't really say they've got organic hits - or in BlackPink's case, ANY hits. It's mostly fandom driven grifting of the charts. Blackpink at least has real sway in influencer circles, but not for music. That's why they were probably one of the only Coachella headliners to headline with no American hits to speak of. Coachella wanted the buzz like every other media outlet using Kpop. And hey, Blackpink delivers buzz, just no hits. BTS delivers revenue, just no hits.

I thought New Jeans would be the one to really take it in the organic success department and they still might with their next comebacks, but the fact of the matter is right now people like Fifty Fifty's music. It might be basic to Kpop fans who stan Stray Kids and aespa, but in the real world nobody cares about them or their opinions. And the fake concern over Fifty Fifty not having lasting success is just that - fake concern from jealous fans whose own faves would give an arm and a leg for that kind of organic hit this group has. The revenue from Fifty Fifty's 'one-hit' (or is it 2? Will it be 3 by the end of the year? I don't know) will be enough to pay off their trainee debt and put food on their table. Other groups have to go on arena tours to make the kind of money an actual, genuine hit can generate for a company.

Kpop fans are highly competitive and jealous creatures. They reflect the culture of Kpop/South Korea so no doubt the companies are jealous too. Fifty Fifty better watch their back. It's too bad because people claim to love underdog success, but what they really want is for their privileged faves to succeed with the guaranteed success they thought they were promised. The fans can make up a fake underdog story afterwards.

They are not They are second and that’s better than not even in top 3

But as a fandom who is the survivor of one era wonder accusations when Hypeboy and Attention blew up We sympathize with 50/50

kpop fans just find it hard to believe that K-pop’s “success” in the west is all smoke and mirrors because it is largely fanbase driven and so they’re trying to come up with random theories when someone has an organic success that goes beyond fanbases and makes it to the actual mainstream. Your statement about kpop stans being highly jealous and competitive creature is very true because that’s basically the foundation off of which these millions of bulk sales are happening for each group nowadays.

literally no one compared them and said it was close. ofc, cupid is miles bigger globally.

omg/ditto are still big hits and extremely successful ww, especially, omg and it did reach local audience at certain level. countless tiktoks from non-kpop listeners, viral tweets, foreign celeb mentions, famous esports players and streamers recommending it, being played at clubs and festivals in the us, etc proves it. omg dance, sound, styling was viral. that capcut edit alone has 3m uses.

but keep being in denial. It doesn't change reality

That doesn’t mean those groups weren’t  successful -just that they have higher brand power as a group than individually

I don't get why FIFTYFIFTY's global success means some of you suddenly feel the need to diminish other groups success in the west

yall are so weird

SM killed them. Back in 2014, their company begged sm to change SNSD title track name before the release. Because once the song was going to be released, all research on Naver and Google we're going to be SNSD related, which is what it ended to be. So the group went to the studio real quick and made this

I don’t think that user’s post was “diminishing” anyone’s achievements though. They’re just calling a spade a spade while people were acting confused why it was Fifty Fifty and not their faves.

idk it always seems to go into extremes here

from FIFTYFIFTY's success being inorganic pushed by some suddenly powerful company to all the other groups being smoke and mirrors :hoetenks:

50/50 definitely deserves to be on that list one of their vocal members tone definitely fits it, now BP I could see *visually* … *musically* however …

On top of that Mark Ronson production and a collab You can’t stop them from your keyboards anymore :sorry:
