Evidently so, yes.

Bizarrely A24 was also pushing Jamie Lee ahead of Stephanie, which frankly is pretty mind-boggling.

Stephanie did more acting in the movie so yes they're asianphobic

they are talentphobic then

Social media stans are being so rude towards JLC like she's the one picking herself or was supposed to not campaign for her work :rip:

It's infinitely more outrageous she's never received an Oscar nom in her entire 40+ year career than Hsu *maybe* missing for this.

It's even more dumb because if y'all are actually aware of how these awards work you know damn well they don't award the actual ~best performances of the year~~ and it all mostly comes down to industry politics

I think A24 pushed Jamie instead of Stephanie. Also, they forgot to push Hong Chau (in the Whale, which is another A24 highlight). It's also surprising that no actresses from Women Talking were nominated.

Dolly outacted all those nominees + stephanie

Jamie Lee there is a crime, tbh (especially since, after this masterpiece, she gave us Halloween Trash). :rip:

OMG why is atrl always so ignorant every  awards season

And if you watched both performances is not even close. Dolly was amazing imo and she is actually Asian from Asia

The GG are racist tho. They can only nominate one asian person

If this is a preview of what they'll submit to the academy to try getting Curtis a career oscar, I hope it bombs harder than a thousand Bionics.

She’s not “typically beautiful” and her role in EEAAO had little to do with her characters immigration status, so she won’t get any awards attention

I have never heard of Women Talking until now, looks interesting, but seems it's not even out in the States yet? So might make sense that no one is, considering the golden globes is presented by a US organization.

Stephanie Hsu 100% deserved a nomination. Her performance was powerful and I’m genuinely surprised they snubbed her.

But the issue is that A24 chose to push JLC instead of Hsu…this is why this is happening. I hope things go differently for the Oscar’s. I don’t care if JLC has never been nominated for one, we all know Hsu deserves it more.

it's kinda annoying for people to just be like "they voted jamie instead of her" when they have totally different narratives and plenty of movies have gotten double supporting actress noms historically.

but also, there haven't been 2 asians together in supporting actress before and globes went with dolly. Hsu could still get in at the Oscars.

It was out in the States. Women Talking is nominated in other categories, but not on Director (Sarah Polley) and Supporting Actress/Actor. It is considered as a major snub this year as critics predict that it should at least rack up some Supporting Roles noms.

It’s one (1) awards where this has happened (mind you, for an Oscar category that is mostly hypothetical at this stage). And that awards body is on where JLC had been nominated seven (7) times prior for projects that came nowhere close to the Oscars or Emmys. Hsu is a shoe in for both SAG and BAFTA, at least wait until the important awards to start panicking.

Where this is sudden vitriol that JLC is “stealing” her spot or being prioritised over Hsu. They’ve been been on the campaign trail equally and JLC at every event has done nothing but praise all of her cast and crew. Y’all are acting like she’s Crawford against Davis in 1962.

Finally, JLC served as Deidre in the picture, there has been far far worse roles nominated in Oscar history. Including that abysmal 2019 lineup in this very category.

lol A24 is campaigning for both JLC and Stephanie. stop this ignorance. The thing is JLC *herself* is campaigning harder, her own team is putting her out there, signing her up for more interviews. this would have happened for another movie if she ever became a contender too.

I'm confused, https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Women_Talking_(film) this the same one? Whatever I guess it doesn't matter, but interesting.
