Iggy Azalea, Megan Trainor, Katy Perry, The Chainsmokers and Sam Smith are proof that having hits and a big album doesn't guarantee mega stardom

Katy was bigger than those you mentioned and the girl in your avi for years.

people easily get tired of something nowadays and are always craving something new

Survivor pushed DC3 to superstardom and I am Sasha Fierce put Bee on another level

I think that’s a little bit of a jump tho. Thriller, Like a Virgin, and Purple Rain are more than hit eras. They are eras where everything aligns for an artist. The music, the image, the songs, the iconic moments to make them megastars. They had the cultural influence and eye catching styling to be recognizable. They showed that these were stars with staying power. They all had hit era with multiple hits before those eras tho. We still have those now. IOP, FN, Planet Her are all examples.

A hit era was never enough to make you a mega-star. If it was, there would be many mega stars by now.

Sam definitely has more hits In both singles & albums with successful world tours, so this makes so sense whatsoever..

She has done it and how is that relevant to the topic?
OP asked if it's 1 hit era can get you to superstardom, which happened in the case of Katy same for Gaga.

No, GAYLE proved this.

EDIT: oh I didn't the see "era" part

Stop being off-topic (and spreading lies).

OT: Many people have big eras because of the music but aren’t really big celebrities themselves.

In todays world? No. You gotta have consistency and years of relevancy to truly make it, but that’s been the case for the music industry in general for a long time. Who today truly remembers people like Norah Jones (who had massive success in the early 2000’s)? You have a decade, or close to it, of success, you’ve made a name of yourself and a legacy

i can’t believe these girls acting like katy wasn’t a huge celebrity :rip: the audacity LMAOOOO

No. The clear example is Camilla, she had TWO of the biggest hits this decade and look at her now.

Where are Kesha, LMFAO, The Chainsmokers, Macklemore and pretty much any UK girl not named Adele now?

Billie was the last Mega Star to debut I fear, and even her fell off quickly

This is it!

Those artists pushes boundaries with their fashion, choreographies, live performances and music videos. Unfortunately nowadays people don't make effort in making videos anymore. The last good videos that spark conversation are LWYMMD/Formation/This Is America.

Back when Thriller, Like a Prayer and Purple Rain came out there was no internet, only a limited number of TV stations and only so many written publications and newspapers…. So their star status was amplified. Now there’s so much content out there and so many artists and selection of what to listen to that I can’t see someone becoming mega successful that way ever again.

She has one hit so far:chick1: not era

Careers are not built in a day. It takes hard work to have longevity.

You need to be super favors and success for multiple eras (usually more than one decade) to be considered a megastar.  Like, these are solid A list celebrities who have cemented and proved their worth (and such is accepted by the GP and industry as fact) and had moved culture at least once in their career.  There aren’t any newer artists who would fit these requirements IMO because they are NEW and need more time to prove they can maintain their influence and popularity.
