Dancing With An Stranger is already 1B streams on Spotify with Promises and How Do You Sleep will soon be joining them, these we’re still huge smashes despite the lack of live performances that could’ve made them better bigger, hell Diamonds just went platinum in the USA and being an rather cute hit in Australia & Canada as well, that single would have been bigger if the pandemic didn’t happen, Sam just needs to mostly release uptempo tracks and keep the sad ballads tbh, and I say this as an stan

His identity-issues were put on blast in the news and people just aren’t as open or receptive to that as you think. It just put people off, therefore from wanting to continue supporting him. 

It is strange because Dancing With a Stranger, Promises, Diamonds and How Do You Sleep? all did pretty well but their album still bombed. 
 

I agree that their artistry was kinda lacking. I saw them live in 2018 (great show) and the arena was full of middle-aged women. Their image was Adele-lite and not whatever Love Goes was. I don’t think the average mom embraced their gender identity journey either. 

Love Goes is his best album tho, and managed to get 2 hits + 1 moderate + whatever Fire On Fire was. However this new one seems like it will be on the bottom far behind all the others. 

I don't know... they just fail to seem interesting. I use plenty of his old music but it took me weeks to give the latest single a stream. Same happened with Love Goes. Their image is just so... stale?

Havent heard of him since he clowned himself with covid crying. The last time i heard his music was late 2018 I believe.

“Fade” seems overdramatic. They haven’t really released a single sincle Diamonds which was a decent hit, US top 40. Yeah nothing is big rn, but their career just seems like the kind that has a couple big hits every 2/3 years. (2014, 2017, 2019, etc). 

 

Let’s see what the lead single does. Hopefully they’re gonna unleash Latch 2.0  

Their career would’ve lasted longer if they remain with a more serious, toned down image. Unfortunately society is very homophobic and their image becoming so extravagant and hyper queer turned off occasional listeners and gay people don’t seem to like them either because they’re not conventionally attractive.
