Amazon is smart in finding ways to monetize the IT department they already needed. If they have to run certain IT services for themselves, they could just as easily rent it out to anyone else needing it.

you guys don't know how much demand there is for AWS these days. their cloud services are by far the biggest hit in the industry and a lot, like a LOT of companies are moving their services to their servers.
