Demi was very on demand that year, xtina needed a hit song but it flopped, it didn’t even chart on billboard hot 100. What was the reason?

Their voices do not blend well. Individually both are great. The solo parts are on fire Their harmonies are grating.

Everything else about the song was wonderful.

Your obssesion with Xtina is something else. You're like the DMF of the Britney fanbase but without the fun side.

The song is great. I'd say lack of promotion. They performed it once together on the BBMAs, and Christina performed twice (three times if you count the Carpool Karaoke performance) on TV. And that was pretty much it.

As much of an Xtina fan I am, I have to admit she really doesn't give her all nowadays when it comes to promoting her music. She releases it, maybe performs it once or twice, and then she moves on to a new thing. That definitely kills any chance for the song to do well. "Your Body," for example, could have been a top 10 hit easily but she didn't promote it AT ALL, she performed many songs from Lotus EXCEPT for "Your Body." She honestly needs a better team and the hunger for promotion she once had. I feel like when Bionic failed, she kinda decided that from then on she wasn't going to bother promoting her music anymore. And it sucks, because she's released a lot of great stuff ever since but it hasn't done well comercially because she didn't promote it.

I love Xtina & I sometimes like Demi. I feel like the GP doesn’t like or appreciate their style of singing. I knew the song would never be a hit. They both showcase their over the top vocals which isn’t pleasant to the ears at times.

I can still hear the yelling :doc:

I was JUST listening to that song today. It’s so good. I really enjoyed Accelerate too although that was never bound to smash. The album as a whole was disappointing after a six year wait but the two singles really floored me. I’m not sure why FIL flopped, though. I will say I preferred the solo version that leaked infinitely more than the Demi version. Demi did great, but despite being a female empowerment anthem I really think it was meant to be a solo song.

Idk, why did Britney and Iggy's Pretty Girls flop? Who knows :michael:

On another note another thread to add to your collection I guess

Stop making threads about Xtina. You’re too old to be acting like this. :rip:

Pretty Girls was by no means a smash hit, but it received far less promotion than Fall in Line (one televised performance for PG vs multiple televised performances for FIL) which lead to...

Pretty Girls: #29

Fall in Line: N/A

So let's not.

Real Answer: There’s just way too much going on in the song. It works if you’re doing a duet on The Voice or competing for American Idol, but it’s not something that someone would want to play casually or listen to on the radio. A lot of Demi’s music can actually be described as “singing competition songs” - they’re emotional and good for a vocal showcase, but not necessarily something people would play regularly.

The song probably could have gone Top 40 if it was dialed back a bit and released during the height of Me Too.

Wow... the obsession. I don't get why stans do this. I think only did it once with Taylor, but to be THIS OBSESSED about someone you don't even like? Something that probably needs to be discussed with a therapist.

For what's worth, most Fighters don't really care about chart success. I mean, if we cared, we wouldn't openly stan Xtina, since she hasn't had a solo hit in over a decade. But her music means more to us than sales. It's not an understatement to say her Stripped album saved my life. It pulled from a very dark place I was after my father passed away and I was being bullied at school for being gay. It was her music and her inspirational songs that allowed me to heal and survive that difficult situation. I don't care if Christina ever sells another record. I will always be loyal to her because of that. When you touch people like she's done with her music, charts don't matter, critics don't matter, let alone petty stan wars...
