I actually listened to one Ethel Cain song from her new album and I was shocked how generic it was. I thought she was making alt-rock/folk music

Maybe she felt like she needed to pander to the gays but the gays seem to be fine with her 10-minute songs so who knows

Ethel fans really overplay how "experimental" her music is

She's always kind of been Kidz Bop Chelsea Wolfe to me

I remember oomf on Twitter was talking about Preacher's Daughter being the most avant-garde thing he'd ever heard

and it's like... really?

I'd say listen to Nicole Dollanganger (from who Ethel pilfered most of her act even though she claims to be inspired by Florence more) instead but her stage name is taken from a fictional family where incest ran wild, and I'm pretty sure that she was embroiled in a scandal or two before so... If you want to be into this crop of weird girls, you just have to accept the baggage.

Nicole's probably a better point of comparison than Chelsea actually now that you mention it

But even so

ignoring the subject matter, the music/production is just really... pleasant? she's pretty accessible imo

They actually had a photo together, and I was gagging all over it, but yeah, I don't think Ethel has the range. She might be a more elaborate lyricist, but I still found something like Whispers in the Echo Chamber more relatable than most of Ethel's stuff.

i love your posts. ur so educated and well spoken. i feel like i accept things at such face value and would never know these sort of things.

Man I hate loving coffee. Drank a lot yesterday and woke up with anxiety and panic. Got some calming pills, hopefully they'll show effect.

You flatter me, sis, but thank you. It's probably damning of the general level of discussion on this forum (the present company excluded because I feel like the people in this thread are more self-aware and comfier) because I wouldn't stand out somewhere else, but yeah, I'm into many things and I try to bring them together to get a fuller picture, and if that helps others, too, great.

And then when they calm you down have some coffee to energize you a bit.

ATRL actually got to the point where I'm surprised if someone quotes me and it's not to attack me/shade me or write ":rip:". Like I still have that user Chris in my notifications after he told me to kms half a year ago. When you read posts from ages ago users were more relaxed
