I struggled with this sentence actually  I wanted to write "has borrowed me money" but it sounded even worse

Speaking of Donkey Kong, one of the forums I'm on is currently imploding because of something related to the game. It wasn't even that serious, but the staff had to make it serious and a hill to die on.

I borrowed money from him

and he lent me the money that's the correct way to say it 

I actually listened to one Ethel Cain song from her new album and I was shocked how generic it was. I thought she was making alt-rock/folk music
