It’s even more embarrassing to think when she dropped Fair and did that interview with Ebro they were treating her like next up music royalty. She even cried and said she was not supposed to be in the position she is in (to become a successful solo act) and things were already rocky back then, we had already waited way too long. I’m not sure why she’s let it all go to waste. The support, the hype and the major potential. It is wild that this is where things have ended up. 2018/2019 is all I’m counting as far as her run goes cause the rest has been absolute mess and bs

The anniversary's technically tomorrow, so if she decides to post anything, I guess it'll be then. But you probably shouldn't get your hopes up considering she's been completely MIA for weeks now

WOW. when that dropped, I KNEW she wouldve put an album out (high budget feature, video, did really well on urban/rhyhtmic), I just do not understand why atleast an EP wasnt released. 

 

IDK if she is afraid to flop, but she has to understand that it is possible to start out slow and your EP/Album grow organically. 

The issue has seemed that they think she can be another Camila so they've been holding off on releasing a body of work in the hopes that she will get a "Havana", after which the album can come out. The thing is, she should've instead tried to be a Kehlani, actually releasing high quality music regardless if it's a smash or not to build a loyal following that allows you to tour and means you can keep booking sessions and putting out music even if you're not #1, unlike Camila who built herself up to be totally hit-dependent without a solid fanbase and now can't tour despite having a lot of hits. 

 

But now she has neither, because she releases too infrequently to build any momentum towards a real hit, and she is not releasing enough to consolidate a fanbase.

 

It's so sad and disappointing.

at least we got the Calvin collab to look forward to in August and hopefully Candy Paint as well.

It would be embarrassing, though. Literally nothing (of note) has happened since. She'd also have the expectation to address that by way of teasing what should be coming (and who even knows what's happening with that).

I think a lot of us (and the GP) forget her actual positioning in the industry. She's unproven as a soloist and is buzzy essentially because of social media (and a lot of that good grace has evaporated). In short, she doesn't yet have any weight to throw around in anyone's label office. So, she's at the mercy of a lot of entities and is almost tasked with staying silent to preserve those relationships.  

 

She's not blameless, though. Because it's clear that she's getting in her own way and it's clear she may not be making the best decisions (or the most bossed up decisions) about her career, media presence, or her team. But I don't think that's the leading problem. It's something else fundamentally and it's clear she can't say anything about it. 

 

Hopefully she + label etc can get on the same page and come guns blazing or she just finally fesses up to whatever BS is happening because whatever it is (and the possible ramifications for speaking up about it) will easily be less embarrassing than being a year removed from Wild Side with absolutely nothing to show for it. 

It’s really crickets today huh? not even an IG story to celebrate the lead to her long-awaited debut album?

I have my doubts about FTN knowing much of anything tbh. They’ve proven unreliable in the past compared to other people in the know. Not directed at you obviously, just going off of the way they’ve moved in the last month or two on Twitter.

Even when an album comes...

It's going to eat me alive that she is sitting on about 4 albums worth of material and we will never hear half.
