i’ve been disgusted by some of nicki’s behaviour but i’m living for this tbh, despite the barbs turning against her. the downfall of that house of cards would be amazing imo. live in your truth onika.

 

i know she’s beloved by many and i do like some of her work. her status as an icon, powerhouse vocal talent can never be taken away but they are fraudulent asf and it’s exhausting watching their reign. i say they bc it’s clear she has a very small hand in the artistry and moves being made

Of course they have an interest, I just meant not as great - the things I listed may legitimately be a factor as to why it doesn’t appear to be as much of a label-backed push, or attempt at saturation as other girls get. Most things Nicki lands, she gets for herself, happen randomly/organically, or are fan driven.
 

The industry does not reward how Nicki Minaj runs her business & doesn’t like relinquishing control over artists. She has monopolised an entire genre & every time labels come out with their new product, she’s there to undermine it & cut it at the roots if there’s even a whiff of them playing in the same realm as her. She’s also been controversially outspoken and at the forefront of recent music industry battles that favor an artist over “the machine”, such as with streaming sales. She’s forever trying to impede and call out the industry’s ability to rig the board.
 

Even her own label understands that female acts have an expiration date, it isn’t wise to place all their eggs in one basket & jeopardise the return on other acts on the roster, who may have more predatory contracts.
 

I maintain that she is in a very unique situation for her genre - one that old label heads don’t particularly understand or have a roadmap of - & a position that the industry as a whole doesn’t want to champion, because the sole purpose is to maximise control - not feed into Nicki’s ambitions of running ish for herself. Pop stars don’t have this issue to this extent, because “pop” appeal is much broader, so it isn’t as much of a risk.
 

I’d argue her relentless stubbornness is a huge factor for her success, but also her biggest fault. She refuses to relent, trust, or be led. 
 

The secondary “wife”, usually of inferior rank, can keep buzzing to herself in here.
