the last time they took the chance was with perfect illusion which flopped massively, then it was extremely difficult and it took them months to play Million Reasons a bit. The Cure wasn't really played in the US (it had a nice airplay in the UK and Australia tho). 

Then Shallow, the same thing, it wasn't till the movie exploded and the oscar hype started that they played it

 

I don't recall much of the chromatica era but I don't remember Stupid Love having a superb 1rst week

she struggles both in streaming and the radio first week, ALWAYS

 

being rain on me the exception probably because of Ariana Grande's feature

 

she struggled to make Million Reasons and Shallow hits, so I didn't really expect Hold my Hand to be different, she's not young anymore, that's how it works, so I don0t get the meltdowns, of couse it was gonna be like this
