Nah if you have the gatefold than you're fine. I was just saying I was surprised how good it sounded for what it was. The yellow and black also sound great though. 

 

Honestly, all of Gaga's albums sound great on vinyl compared to some other pop releases that tend to sound flat or compressed. Even Born This Way sounds fantastic imo.

Joker music being from 2017 is insane. I believe it, but it makes me curious the direction of the musical numbers within the movie. Unless they’ve been heavily reworked I don’t see how they’re going to drive the narrative. Really interested to see how they play out.
 

What was she even writing in 2017 that these were from? ASIB was probably already mostly written by that point but I guess there was still a decent amount done well into 2017-2018. Are they somehow more ASIB rejects, concepts from ASIB writing that never made it far, or from another separate writing session? Seems like a very weird time period of her writing to later be used for Joker.

Plenty of filler songs were added that aren't in the film or are just used in the background, so they wouldn't have to have been recorded in the initial sessions. The only reason people consider The Cure an outtake and not Stupid Love is because it came out 3 years later and DJWS is all over the ASIB OST while whatever BloodPop submitted didn't make the cut. (Rolline Stone).

 

They weren't working on Chromatica together until after SL had already been formed, so... what else was it for?

Honestly, I’m lost but you may be onto something. Either way, it’s still hard to say SL was a ASIB reject because none of BP’s songs made the cut and he has no credits on that album while DJWS has on both the album and on The Cure, which is indeed what you’ve said. It's confusing and a shame that the behind-the-scenes videos of ASIB aren't very insightful.

We might get an alternative mix/edit of a song in the film meant for mainstream consumption, but they're not gonna care about having some separate pop hit for radio. They don't have the same priorities as record labels. Everything they do for a film is in aim for critical and box office success. Even Shallow and the ASIB soundtrack had a surprisingly limited push even after they both absolutely smashed.

'The Cure' - 'Heal Me' were also very similar in theme-lyrics, it makes sense that it ended up be scrapped as outtake.

 

I was actually discussing this just last week maybe you missed it, but that was the period she started working on the new album with Bloodpop, initially LG6 was supposed to be released a few weeks-one month later the ASIB release since they weren't expecting that success, it wasn't 'Chromatica' yet (I supposed 'Enigma' like Residency), but there was for sure a first shape of what 'Chromatica' ended up be, with the first songs they recorded.

 

However it's possible that he tried to make some songs for the "pop bops" of the soundtrack that got rejected but it definitely happen before they started filming the movie, for a music movie, the music is indeed essential, it was necessary that they had everything ready for the majority.

This is a prestigious film, not some quick little Disney marvel movie. A pop song had no place in Joker: FAD
