I think this proves that Gaga’s discography got the short end of the stick and that it would be bigger if she actually put effort. 

 

1) She was slow to start on Spotify given that it peaked after ARTPOP

 

2) She refuses to playlist her music compared to her peers 

 

3) only until Chromatica did she embrace playlists, and even then they sabotaged that era  didn’t embrace TikTok either

I think what it proves is that Interscope is clueless at picking singles. Gaga promoted the f out of BTW. It didn’t get a short end of any stick except at the Grammys.

tbh it is doing across the middle east and entered vietnam and kazkhstan, it needs to step up in japan/south korea/philippines/malaysia/indonesia.

australia is a big disspoitment, i never expected it to chart in the us before australia, truley her artpop there.

Eh Gaga was overexposed at the time and the media was starting to turn against her - Interscope had a HUGE launch that backfired.

1) Madonna attacks BTW as a rip-off

 

2) Judas leaking - rush release - turns out to be her first bomb, forces Gaga to rush release EOG

3) Adele starts smashing WW, an alternative to Dance / EDM / Over the Top Pop

 

4) Motorcycle cover debuts, Gaga is dragged for calling it the album of the decade 

 

5) Cross-dressing performance for You & I comes off as cringe - single smashes in the U.S, but only further ruins the era WW

 

6) Marry The Night video - 14 minutes - GP is out at this point, many of the singles underperformed at this point so radio had no incentive to play this 

 

The era was bound to fail no matter what - we’ve seen it with Michael, with Reputation - when you’re on top, they’re looking for ways to pull you down.

tbh it’s partly just my bias with them being my favorite group, but RV does give Gaga a bit - theatrical, weird, camp, can actually sing unlike many of their peers, able to smash even after bombing bc they have a solid fanbase and a good reputation for reinvention with the public
