It's part of the emotional climax of the film (with the bridge and her belt irrc), is diegetic music in a scene at the bar, and the melody is used throughout the score. The Academy already had its chance to honor Chadwick, but they chose not to. They could of posthumously awarded him right after his death with a Best Actor win.
