It's a nice song in that she sounds amazing so anything she sings is nice, but yes it's nothing even remotely new for her. It's basically Christmas Come Early without Christmas references. I agree the message is a little odd since it doesn't seem like this is where she is in her life.

Happy to have new music anyway and I am looking forward to the video! I hope it resonates well with people who aren't as familiar with her catalog.

Ugh I was afraid of this.

Don't get me wrong, it really is a good song. It's mature, sultry, and the vocals slay. We as fans have just heard some of this before on MOL, Chemistry, and WCCA. I'm probably underwhelmed because I was expecting something more of a departure. Her base is older and will appreciate it.

I like the beginning and the second half when the guitars come in.  It drags a little bit in the middle when it slows down again after the beat came in.  I thought that the production should've stayed with the drums.

I don't really see it as a song off of MOL and Chemistry like I've seen people say.

I didn't really have any expectations for the song so I'm not disappointed but I'm also not blown away either.  She does sound really good though.

I really like the song song and it has me interested in the album. But, to address so many people saying that this is a recycled sound, I think she'd benefit from working with new collaborators. She's kind of found a comfort zone with her current band (I noticed this was written with and produced by Jaco).

I'm more annoyed with the video stills. I just know that it will have zero replay value, which sucks. Now that she's independent she could hire any director she wants and create something worthwhile.

This rollout was just :skull: No hype whatsoever, I know Atlantic fumbled the bag but they would've done better than this

The new song is fine, great vocals but nothing else going on to grab my attention

Her team now didn't even create a free link tree for all the areas, didn't use Spotify presave feature. I'm like what kind of amateur stuff. They need a real fan on the team for marketing

agreed. How was this beautiful picture not the cover art. Instead they zoomed in so far into her face

Re the rollout, I know it's been talked to death by let's highlight a few things in case someone on her team ever lurks here…

  • Linked website email address (Google business suite) costs like $5 a month… and then the emails won't go to everyone's spam box and also won't look unprofessional as coming from an @gmail account
  • Spotify for artists to instant release when midnight - a whole day in Asia was basically lost… the biggest day it'll likely ever get in streaming is the opening Friday
  • Spotify for artists makes it REALLY easy to submit for playlisting too, although I am happy to see we have more than Just Good Music this time around! (SO to Warm Fuzzy Feeling)
  • Tidal has a weird new artist page for this release… rather than adding to previous releases

not that it's expected to chart, but I do hope they registered it properly so its data does count if it does meet the threshold to chart. I wouldn't put it past them to get a tiny bit of radio audience from Sirius FM and then the iTunes downloads and streams from audio and music video to just cross the 40 billboard points to get on the bbhot100 (the reaction to the live performance will most likely let us know where we stand as out-the-gate streaming data will be a bit hit and miss given the rollout)

anyways, I'm glad the song is goood and I'm delighted she is making and releasing music! Just a few lessons to build on for the next release!

I just say the track does feel like an album opener or closer to me based on the instrumentals but maybe that's just me

Honestly! Very annoying!

I have an indy artist friend who showed me just how easy it is to manage all of these things on Spotify for artists too.

oh well, next time, hopefully they'll have learnt!

At least I like the song and she's putting out music lol

maybe that's why they chose WHYB so they'd see what to do better with a stronger song next time

I hope she goes OFF on that climax when I see her in Atlantic City next weekend

Yasss and with the tv performance on Tuesday!!

The song is growing more on me. Especially from the guitar solo to the end. Gorgeous

Maybe it can go viral on TikTok with people trying to hit the high note if one of you crazy kids wants to start the trend :eli:

Was I tripping out or was there meant to be a performance of Where Have You Been on the Kelly Clarkson Show or just a video debut?

The best part of the song is the guitar solo and everything after it. The first two verses and choruses serm kind of lackluster. It reminds me a lot of Chemistry. I agree with those who said that with full creative freedom I wuld expect something more... well, creative and less middle of the road.

As for the message, I wuldn't be shocked if it was like MOL music video - it's not a love interest, it's her kids but made to sound like a love relationship to make it more widely appealing

super interesting how the song came together. There were several iterations of it, including a bigger vocal throughout. I'd love to hear the full demo with the notes held out and bigger in the chorus.
