I never said it had to be upbeat, I personally don't connect with anything on the album except 'Hold Up' and 'Formation'. It's not for me and I just think it's a sad moment in her discography. 0 stars.

once again as a project I can understand how EPIC this album is. But I'm much simpler than that and I only need BANGERS. Even formation, I listen to live versions because I find the studio version too « bland » now. Sometimes I'd use 6 inch if I think of it… that's IT.

 

i'd still give it a 5 stars cuz she my girl you know

taking something that didn't start out personally from her own experience and weaving it into an intricate tapestry so that it seamlessly fits in the narrative is completely different, please be serious

I can do introspective Yoncé (Disappear, Scared Of Lonely and I Care are some of favorites) I just don't connect with anything slow on LEMONADE. 

 

Like you said, I can under how epic and groundbreaking the album is and appreciate the conversations it opened up. But it's not for me and hasn't aged well.

Bodyguard, Riiverdance, II Hands II Heaven are still played daily. Rest of it depends on the mood really.

To think that criticizing that album in 2017 would have had you skulldragged by everyone though. How ironic.

 

A lot of things have changed since then  

 

Anyhow, I like how Freedom and Daddy Lessons sound live. I'll give them that.
