I been smoking so now I'm finna go in  okay so family practices a form of spirituality known as IFA. Grandparents, uncles, aunties, cousins, etc. Most of my cousins my age (I'm 30) we all kind of wandered off into our thing when we became adults but it's still respected. Back when Formation dropped and you saw all the Moorish images and her name being "BEY" which is a historical name, things kind of clicked for me and my cousin Precious. The night it dropped, while everyone was focused on the cheating we were CRYING when the water came rushing down the stairs at the beginning of Hold Up, when the slaves drowned themselves during Love Drought, when the MAGIC part came on right before Freedom, the scene where she's literally in a RITE in the all red (with the flames everywhere), when she asks the MOON for guidance, there are soooo many references in that film and people just ignored it as aesthetic. Black Is King is a whole other monster in itself. My girl has grown up and grown INTO herself. She's ascended and people aren't ready for that conversation without saying stupid **** like satanic and Illuminati. Just really proud that she doesn't mind flaunting her beliefs despite most black Americans not being evolved enough to comprehend what she's doing.

That's why I kinda want Church Girl to be pushed  because lyrically she's talking about HERSELF. And no one seems to figure out she's left the "church" and her old self a while ago and she's FREER than she's ever been. I see that kinda went over everyone's heads... while they all focused on the beat and surface layer lyrics.
