Japan: positions #47

Featured Replies

Debuts at #47 with 1,415 copies sold.

This is actually semi-good since western girls have been flops in Japan for the past few years.

Yours Truly: #3

Christmas Kisses: #25

My Everything: #3

Dangerous Woman: #2
The Best: #2

Sweetener: #5

thank u, next: #12

Her and Gaga were doing so great their first-third albums

then their selling powers there disappeared suddenly

So Billie's WWAFA, WDWG? remains the last successful album by a western female artist there?

I'd say  WWAFA, WDWG? is the last smash album by a western female artist. Because Lover was also successful by all means

oh yeah Lover :clap3:

Not surprised tbh... Japan has completely dropped pop girls lol

The last certified pop girl album there is Reputation, right? :toofunny2:

RIAJ could at least do combined certifications now since even local artists are struggling with certifications. :rip:

Folklore went #10. Heaven & Hell debuted at #42 :deadbanana:

They only introduced streaming certifications for songs in May :rip:

Chromatica went #3 & sold 10x what positions did. Why’s nobody in this thread willing to admit what these numbers mean? This is dismal. She slayed other regions so it’s not a read. But this is objectively a failure

Chromatica debuted #3 w only a few days of tracking... would’ve been #1 had it been a full week

Gaga's peak in Japan>>> Ari's peak in Japan tho?

Gaga literally has a million selling album there

it's just Ari is still arguably the biggest new MPG in Japan

Gaga was huge and did magical number

now we should just say she's normally successful

you saying that do make it look better cause I'm a fan of hers

it's just her last few projects including ASIB didn't do exceptionally great number like she did with say TF/TFM

Chromatica had a way better debut than positions in Japan the same year lmao

you thought you were doing something here :skull:

well yea ASIB really bombed in JP and SK, but bar that her most recent studio albums have all debuted Top 10 at least (inc C2C) so it shows her JP fanbase is still solid there

Gaga ALWAYS does better number than Ariana in Japan

I was saying they both are losing their selling powers

what's so hard to understand?

"you thought you were doing something here"

why don't you click my username and take a look to see if I'm an OGH or not

I wouldn't really compare GaGa and Ariana.

Different generations with different demographics. Obviously the artist that was successful during times when Western artists sell singles/albums in millions in Japan would have more loyal fans in the end than someone who had a peak in a time when getting a gold certification is outstanding.

It's not the super pop influenced music that Japan usually likes from her and no one in the thread is dismissing these numbers or saying she's slaying.

Yes she did lose her power but that’s normal

she is not in her peak anymore but you randomly putting Gaga here out of nowhere makes you look like a hater

literally no one was talking about her plus like you said Gaga is still in a way better position than Ariana in Japan son why mention her in the first place :skull:

there are way better options to compare with Ariana than Gaga

every fan mentions the artists he or she likes everywhere anywhere no?

I'm not comparing them btw

it's just I don't know the situations about a lot of artists

they are the two I know more about

and hence I talked about them

and by losing selling powers

of course it's about comparison between one era of an artist to his/her next

like Gaga's "flop" such as ARTPOP still moved more number than every Ari's album including her peak

so comparison between artists don't even reflect the loss of selling power you should understand

so I said they loss their selling powers not at all was I comparing the two ladies

hope this is clear enough

I never disagreed that Gaga is still doing great and arguably so is Ari

I just said lightheartedly that they both have been losing their selling powers
