So the last 3 didn't even chart? :rip:

Lauren charted on Billboard's digital sales chart with only a few days of tracking. Expectations had a mid-week release. Tbf, Columbia never sent it to radio. Heard It All Before was sent to urban but didnt get enough play to enter the all-genre radio chart.

"Super group" when it was barely a group and certainly not super?

Well, I am glad you point out "solo singles" because Camila Cabello has two #1 hits and is a very relevant name in the music industry nowadays. Same applies for Normani. "Love Lies" and "Dancing With a Stranger" were massive and we all know "Motivation" deserved better. Nonetheless, she's also known amongst the new generation which is good.

I am sad Lauren and Dinah haven't had it easy on them. Nonetheless, I am so happy that, at least, two girls from Fifth Harmony - who managed to make girlgroups cool again and successful, at least on a global scale - made it big and have so much more to give.

:heart2: :heart2: I think it's all about the will to make it at a certain point. I have a lot of opinions, but personal opinions aside, it's never over until it's over and a debut it just a first shot.

Look at how 5H started out with Miss Movin On. It peaked at 76 in America but one of the members later went on to hit number one twice, topped BB 200 and was nominated for a Grammy. WFH became huge for them, and another member hasn't left the charts in 90 weeks.. It's not too late for Ally or Dinah to break out either, truly. It starts with just one hit.

Supergroup is hyperbole but name one group in recent history who've had more than one member score multiple Hot 100 top 10s since disbanding.

Destiny's Child? ***** Cat Dolls? One Direction? TLC? Little Mix? Monster X?

I'll wait.

Destiny's Child?

Kelly scored another big with “Motivation” 9 years after Dilemma. 2x Platinum and a Grammy nominee.

1D and DC both launched bigger careers than 5H so far.

Lauren also. She was more popular than everyone in 4H but I'm not sure if that's true after the past two years

Esp.  in the US where Ally is doing tv shows and Normani has been on tour and released more stuff..

I feel you. Since this is in the chart section I thought I'd add that none of the other groups I named, including my favs Destiny's Child, have had more than one member score multiple top 10s on the Hot 100.

In 20-30 years...just saying.

5H is the first in recent history, and they only took two years to do it

The OP isn't accurate. Why does it say Camila has "nearly five years in the industry" and the others six or seven? They all started in 2012 with the group, except Dinah who had recoreded a song in 2011, and Normani had recorded a song when she was 13. All should have the same amount of years in the industry: 6, with Camila having 3 years as a solo artist and the others 1.5 years so far. Also the years in the industry as part of a girl group, which was notably mishandled by their teams, are not relevant to their individual years as a solo artists now. Although the group was impactful in reviving girl groups for example, it was not a super group and did not dominate in sales and the general public did not and still does not know the individual ex members except Camila and now Normani. Being a former member of a group does not create automatic acclaim or success for their work as solo artists. Camila's initial solo success stemmed from acting as a solo artist in the group and her own team setting up her solo connections and launch within the group, long before she officially left. Plus all the PR her team and media created and the other members thrown under the bus while Camila was uplifted made into a sympathetic figure everyone should root for.

- Camila has released 7 solo singles: CITC, Never be the same, Consequences, Liar, Shameless, Cry For Me, Easy.

- She has been involved in 15 collabs:
IKWYDLS with Shawn Mendes
Bad Things with MGK
Love Incredible (feature on Cashmere Cat's single)
Hey Ma (feature on Pitbull and J Balvin's single)
Know No Better with Major Lazer, Travis Scott & Quavo
Havana ft. Young Thug
Almost Like Praying (one of the featured artists on Lin-Manuel Miranda's single for charity)
Crown with Grey
Sangria Wine with Pharell
Beautiful (feature on Bazzi's remix single)
Real Friends ft. Swae Lee
Find U Again (feature on Mark Ronson's single)
Mi Persona Favorita with Alejandro Sanz
Senorita with Shawn Mendes
South of the Border (feature on Ed Sheeran's single alongside Cardi)

- Normani has released 1 solo single: Motivation (peaked at #33 on Hot 100 and #27 on UK Singles Chart so far)

- She has been involved in 7 collabs:

Love Lies with Khalid
Body Count (feature on Jessie Reyez's remix single alongside Kehlani)
Swing (an album track, feature on Quavo's song alongside Davido)
Checklist & Slow Down
Waves ft. 6lack
DWAS with Sam Smith
Bad To You with Ariana and Nicki

***Normani had also previously released/uploaded 5 covers I'm aware of: Future's "**** Up Some Commas", Teyana Taylor's "Do Not Disturb", Tory Lanez's "Say It", and a mashup up of Drake's "Fake Love" & "Sneakin'" and Solange's "Cranes in the Sky" & "Don't Touch My Hair".

- Lauren has released 2 solo singles: Expectations (US Digital Songs sales: #48; UK Singles Downloads: #94) & More Than That

- She has been involved in 4 collabs:
Back To Me (feature on Marian Hill's song)
Strangers (feature on Halsey's song, a promotional single that cracked the Hot 100)
In Your Phone (an album track, feature on Ty's song)
All Night with Steve Aoki

- Dinah has released 2 solo singles: Heard It All Before and Retrograde.

- She has been involved in 3 collabs:
Boom Boom with RedOne, French Montana & Daddy Yankee
Bottled Up ft. Ty and Marc E. Bassy
SZNS ft. A Boogie wit da Hoodie

- Ally has not released a solo single.

- She has been involved in 6 collabs:
Look at us now (feature on Lost King's single alongside ASAP Ferg)
Perfect with Topic
Vamonos with Kris Kross Amsterdam and Messiah
Low Key  ft. Tyga
Lips don't lie ft. A Boogie wit da Hoodie
Higher ft. Matoma

I think they meant at the time their first solo song came out

Ok well it wasn't clear on that and like I said the years "in the industry" doesn't matter with respect to their success as solo artists now. There are tons artists who have tons of years in the industry before debuting or before getting a mainstream hit. The only factor that matters prior to becoming solo artists is the circumstances of their solo launch, if they had received a significant and consistent solo push, like Camila did.

It was clear.

"After xyz collabs and xyz years in the industry" means that's how long they spent with mainstream industry exposure before releasing their first solo song.

I think that was easy to figure out too since they all had different numbers lmao no offense

Ok, but “how long they spent with mainstream industry exposure before releasing their first solo song” isn’t accurate at all. Because they - the other four - didn’t have mainstream exposure as solo artists because they were not solo artists, nor did they even have notable consistent exposure as a group to the general public, who didn’t and don’t know who the four (except Normani now) are individually. It’s a meaningless metric the OP used there. It means nothing how may years they spent as merely a member of a creatively oppressed group with relatively low sales and 2 big songs. They were not even being adequately invested in as a group. They were not getting out there and being promoted to the general public as solo artists during those years in the group. So years in the industry as a member of the group is meaningless to the potential success of their solo work. The general public doesn’t know them individually until they’re significantly promoted to the general public and get sustained solo success.

I'm sure you typed something interesting but these are just simple stats about when their first solo songs came.

2012 is the moment they all first got national tv exposure as soloists. The stats go from there.

Can you distill your point into one sentence because I'm not following what your issue is. Of course the other girls could use more investment.

...National TV exposure as solo artists? In 2012 when they auditioned out of 1000s for X factor at 15/16 and were soon put in a group in the competition, a group in which they were not solo artists making solo music or being promoted as solo artists outside Camila... I-  it’s clear what the point is when I say your “years in the industry” comment and metric isn’t accurate or meaningful to the four’s success as solo artists now, but whatever, carry on.

Supergroup is a term used when a bunch of already-established musicians team up for a single or project. An example would be We Are the World. :priceless:

In a nutshell, these are their solo debuts and how they stack up on billboard. They are what they are. You can whine all you want. Lmaoo

Normani didnt have a running start in terms of group spotlight either and she had the disadvantage of certain barriers but she still managed to have the biggest solo debut so I'm not sure what excuse you can make that's legit.

I suppose No Good is now Ally's first true solo single since she debuted it without a feature...

It's close to 1 million on Spotify. Whoopie
