& Portugal is essentially a Spanish country in terms of the convo. If they can understand Spanish, ofcourse, Spanish music would do well there.

No, they cannot. Just because our languages are similar, it doesn't mean we cannot understand them.

What is this nonesense? Do you even speak Spanish to make such a statement? :doc:

Fonsi in the US iTunes top ten. :clap3:

Even though I haven't and won't ever play that remix. :biblio:

Where? In the US?

Because Despacito has been smashing since December.

We didn't need a Bieber remix over here. :gaycat5:

And that addresses the first part of my comment how?

Song of Summer 15: See You Again/Cheerleader/Bad Blood

Song of Summer 16: One Dance

None of those feature Justin Bieber :fan:

Despacito (slowly) (remix) is the best song of this year(so far). Jealous and bitter haters can say whatever they want. And it has not even  take off yet and haters are already afraid ?wow

the video effect for Stay took a while to kick in tbh

91% :duca:

Lady Gaga is about to go #2 as Zedd and Alessia Cara are ready to take the top spot by the next update. The music video is doing its job.

Not "Descapito" :ahh::ahh::ahh::ahh:

decapitar
verbo transitivo
"Matar a una persona o un animal cortándole la cabeza"

:rip:

The song took off AGES ago. It already has 1B streams on YT :toofunny2: And the quality of the song is still mediocre.

Alessia coming for #1 :alexz:

The video and discount for Stay coming for Gaga :jonny:

at least there's a big gap between 2 and 3. Would be great if the cure could stay in the top 15 until next week when it gets added to radio

It isn't xenophobic but American people have no ears for tropical genres.

They wouldn't know how to dance a song like Despacito and play in on their radios would be a waste since they wouldn't understand it.

This isn't true at all :rip: Work was massive here. Even years back Cheerleader, What's My Name?, the tropical vibe Bieber hits, etc. have been hits. Shape of You even has that vibe.

Despacito won't ever be a hit here because everyone speaks English and it's in Spanish.

Spanish is the second most spoken language in USA and is the 3rd most spoken language in the world... The same way, here in Latin America, people don't have a problem dealing with english songs they don't understand on radio, north american people can try to bare with it as well :cm:

"Bare with it" implies that radio should play something...people don't want to hear. How about "bare with" that Americans don't listen to music in languages they don't speak and that's why Despacito won't ever catch on here.

Despacito (Remix) is now #4 on iTunes, #3 combined and it seems like it is coming for more!

Well, I wasn't referring to those tropical genres at all.

I was talking about Merengue, Salsa, Reggaeton and Bachata.

And still, those are a very few hits with tropical vibes that smashed in the US. :rip:

You're right, you will not give us a chance despite a huge part of your population being Latinos, so we shouldn't give you that chance either here. :eli:

Kendrick's HUMBLE. and DNA. continue to increase. :duca:

I don't know where you live but Despacito has been smashing since December.

Its video has nearly 1 billion views and the song has more than 300 million streams on Spotify. :doc:

The remix is only helping in the US, UK and Australia.

Harry is climbing fast in the UK again

Did he do some promo?

The discussion :dies:

I've heard Despacito on the radio and it does sound completely out of place imo, but top 40 radio would play it they think people would want to listen to it.

But just looking at the audience numbers from the Latin radio formats.... Even hispanics rather listen to English pop music apparently.

man! sales are dying so fast :deadbanana2:

I think by the end of the year we'll have #1s selling less than 10k :rip:

There aren't many radio stations for Hispanics.

Despacito has almost 15 million from Latin, 10.1 million from Tropical and 0.295 million from Latin Urban.

I didn't know the original version was also climbing.

A little dramatic. :rip: Below 50K maybe.

Sales are currently around 2005 levels.
